Who Would You Choose to Have a Beer With? (past or present)
Beer Addled Brain | 6/12/05 | Pissant

Some of our most cherished memories in life revolve around sharing a drink with loved ones and friends. A fine bottle of Cabernet with your spouse on your anniversary. A 12 year old scotch with your father. Shots of tequila with the girl you've been after for months. Etc, Etc.

There are certainly people in our history and living today, that I would give my left nu.., er little toe, to share a beer and a long-winded conversation with. The following is off the top of my head, and hundreds more could be included:

LIVING:

3. Bob Dylan - my all time favorite enigmatic musician

2. Donald Rumsfeld - A real man amongst girly men

1. Mark Steyn - perhaps the most insightful, wittiest man on the planet

DEAD

3. Ernest Hemmingway - one of the few writers of fiction I love.

2. Ronald Reagan - The hero of our times

1. Ben Franklin - My alltime favorite historical figure.

LIVING:
3. Karl Rove - I'd love to get insights on running a campaign the way he did!

2. OJ - To ask him about that night @ Bundy...but I'll pat him down first.

1. Pope Benedict XVI - shoot the s**t regarding theology...and--of course--he could pick the beer.

DEAD
3. Winston Churchill - no cigars, though

2. Harry Truman - the last Dem to really "Give 'em hell!"

1. G.K. Chesterton - How the heck did we ignore all his warnings on societal collapse?

I'm on a diet so I'm drinking Tropicana sugar free lemonade. It tastes pretty good.

Hey, I like that you had G. K. Chesterton at the top of your list. Good call.

I'd have a beer with Carrie Nation, the leader of the temperance movement. She'd probably let me have her beer.

My Father used to come home from work, change out of his suit and have a beer. As a little girl I would sit on the porch beside him and take a little swig - it absolutely gagged me at the time. I later came to appreciate beer quite a bit!

He died when I was 15 - I'd love to sit on the porch and share a beer with one of my favorite men of all time - and I'd love for him to meet my Marine and my children

Well, she is getting married. I just think shes great. I love her show. If she turned me down for a social drink I would have to go with Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin or Michael Medved.
