Totally Irrelevant Weather Fact for the Day
Weather Guide Calendar

On this day in:
TOPICS: Weather
KEYWORDS: weather; wx1938; wx1990; wx1991
1938: a slowly SE bound F5 tornado veered SW as it approached Clyde, TX. A car with six occupants was fleeing from the N part of Clyde, only to drive directly into the storm. Both survivors were found 1/2 mile from the car, still clutching their teddy bear and dolly when found. Additionally, there were 10 other storm related fatalities.
1990: 3/4" to >1.5" of rain within an hour caused some run off problems in Las Vegas, NV. Every underpass in the city was flooded, two people died (one, a woman in her car, was swept a mile down a concrete washway). A 4' wall of water swept a bus with 13 people in it to within 40' of Flamingo Wash.
1991: lighting struck the Louis Vieux in Loiusville, KS. It is the largest American Elm tree in the U.S. and dates back to the 1800's as a landmark/meeting place along the Oregon Trail. 3/4ths of it survived and so it remains on the National Register of Champion Elm Trees.

Thanks for putting me on your ping list. I ONLY thing I miss about getting rid of cable was losing the Weather Channel. Those storm shows are so awesome.

I see these stories on the {Armageddon) weather channel. I,m a closet weather junkie.
Every day in America, 11 people die from the weather.
There are 400 lightning strikes per second on the planet.
There is a tornado somewhere at this moment, in fact at every moment of every day there is at least one tornado somewhere.
There are thousands of other things that we have not yet even considered because we have not yet observed them.

The telescope taught man to think, the computer allows us to see.
The computer has extreme bearing on man's perception of the unchanging (yet variable) weather patterns.
The really interesting stuff is the radical and unseen, like when the jet-stream crashed into a mountain in Colorado a few years back.

The last thing I remember was the tornado that hit downtown Ft. Worth, TX in 2000. We were all killed.:)

May God comfort Janna and her family and give them peace and strength. May He use His awesome healing power to restore her to health in His service, in Jesus' name.

I've been to Louisville Kansas several time in late 80's when I drove from Wichita Air Cargo Trucking company. It's not much of a town really. However, if you want peace and quiet, small town friendliness and no crime, check it out:

I join in urgent prayer for Janna!
To: raygun; trussell
Heavenly Father, we return to thank You that we can gather around Janna and pray that Your healing hand would mightily be upon her. The news is grave, O God, but You are greater still, and we ask that You intercede on her behalf and reverse her diagnosis. Give the greatest wisdom to her medical team that, by Your direction, they would be part of Janna's healing. Give words of encouragement to her family, Merciful Father, for her young children have such great need for her. Look with mercy upon them and her husband ... may she be blessed to see her children's children. In the Name of Jesus, we pray, Amen ...
