Ace was 1975.

X

The song "How Long" was released in 1980...after that, Ace broke up and their lead singer Paul Carrack joined Squeeze and sang lead on "Tempted" and others. He then joined Mike and The Mechanics and sang lead for much of their music, before going solo.

Can I get some corroboration on this? :-O

"How Long" is off of Paul Carracks, Blue Views, which I have sitting right here beside me. The CD was released in '97. I am clueless as to whether or not this was a re-release of the song.

I enjoyed Squeeze as well as Mike and The Mechanics.

I don't know about other artists, but "How Long" by Ace was in 1975 (and I was going by memory - that was my senior year in high school).

Scroll down to the "H"s and you'll see it. It got up to #3 on the Billboard charts.

That'll be about right. Paul did a solo album in 1980, then a couple of appearances for other group including Tilbrook & Squeeze for 'Tempted', before hooking up with Nick Lowe in '82.

I think it was 1975 myself.

You are correct about Paul Carrack.

Great musical voice too.

Tempted was a good song too.

Ahhh.. yes I remember...

Cold winter's day in Houston Texas me and my steady girlfriend cuddling in the back of my Camero with the engine off, parked at Wilson Pool. She is wearing a rabbit fur coat and me a sweater (with small rabbit hairs all over it now) and a pair of new blue jeans that seem to be chaffing me something terrible.

While Im busy making out, licking banana split and wild cherry lip gloss from my girlfriend's lips and at the same time trying to find that damn hook.... My girlfriend suddenly says "stop" and asks me to stop as she sits up and turns up the volume so she can listen to this new group called "The Babys" sing "Isn't It Time".

/sigh

My 42nd birthday is day after tomorrow.
