Very interesting. Crowded House was an offshoot of the Kiwi band of the 80's, Split Enz.
Not to bring a downer to this thread, but the Drummer of Crowded House, Paul Hester committed suicide a few weeks ago in his home city.
It seems that rock stars are unfortunately overrepresented in the "People who die too young" category.

My info re: Haircut 100 and Crowded House was wrong. I was thinking of Split Enz. Sorry folks!
Although I am right on everything else! :-)

Not me...
Tracks by Cheap Trick were not in my favourites. Each to his own.

The Flame was awful. Cheap Trick peaked a few years earlier with Surrender and I Want You to Want Me.

Actually those are from the Haircut 100 classic "Love Plus One." Trust me. It's on my iPod.
By the way, has anybody mentioned Violent Femmes yet?

Why can't I get just one ....

X got into a lot of trouble because of "Johnny Hit and Run." Then they went mersh with "Fourth of July."
Speaking of Husker Du, didn't Bob Mould come out of the closet a few years back or am I thinking of someone else.

Leaving out the Violent Femmes from great 80's bands is like leaving out milk from a sundae.

Bob Mould came out of the closet years ago. The (male) drummer from my first band ran off to live with him in Minneapolis - no lie!
To: Hokie Bird
In a punk vein, the other great bands form the 80's were, The Dead Kennedys and the Sex Pistols,

Agreed, I kinda feel the same way about Danzig. Now there is someone who can be legitimately called a troll...
I was backstage at a Danzig show and said: "Wow, he looks like a troll." I was not well recieved for the comment, but the group of rowdy roadie biker fellows I was there with made them kind of nervous so they let well enough alone...

Yikes! I can't quite assemble a coherant thought here, but what's forming is along the lines of British "Class" vs American "Whatever".

I just had a quick look. Very interesting. I'm sure the guy that wrote the song never knew how much it would have affected various phone company profits.

Adam Ant looks like a History teacher a-la Mr.Chips in that photo, while the guy on the right looks like the Commander of an Alien Glam-Rock Civilization Spaceship just landed on a stage somewhere.
