Thanks so much for the kind words. I can't get the time back since I got sick while having my 2 weeks vacation. Fortunately it was only a short time.

Hope to see you later.

A friend is he who always knows
When the cold wind of trouble blows,
Who comes in dark and stormy night
With friendship's glowing lamp alight. -Mason

A true friend stays true to the end.

Thanks for the words of wisdom, Mayor.

LOL

Great cartoons for World Environment Day, Victoria.

Are you ready for school tomorrow? I'll bet you could use another week of vacation. :)

I could use as many weeks as possible, and I feel tired too.

As a matter of fact I should be working on it right now.

Sorry I gotta run, but I'll be back later.

Stairs?

Hmm.

Ah, yes...

Spiral

A simple spiral staircase,
You turn as you ascend.
In climbing toward our Heaven’s Door,
We cannot see the end.

How much of turning need we do,
To turn from wrong to right?
It may be that we’ll never see,
Our destiny in sight.

Steady we climb, and patiently,
With faith that guides our tread,
A hand is in our hand to climb,
No need to turn our head.

More strength flows to us as we see,
The dirt gone from our feet,
The Glory of that final step,
That makes our lives complete.

THE PRESIDENT: This is the beginning of some fantastic technology. And thanks for having us out here. We're going to look at some other vehicles here in a minute, but, you know, hydrogen is the wave of the future. And this country is going to have to use technology to diversify away from hydrocarbons. We're too dependent on foreign sources of energy today, and one way to diversify away from hydrocarbons is to use hydrogen, the byproduct of which will be water and not exhausts which pollute the air.

Today's devotion is very timely for me. (Thanks Lord.)

My beloved dog "Pepper" got sick Friday and went progressively downhill very rapidly. Sadly, there was nothing we or the vet could do. Her 13-year-old body had just worn out and I had to make the hardest choice ever. She died peacefully in my arms this morning, completely trusting that her mom was doing the loving and merciful thing. Hubby and I buried her this afternoon. I am mourning my faithful loving friend but thanking God for her and the joy she brought into my family's life.

Do dogs go to heaven?

My little bully passed away, no more to breathe a sound.
I held him for the last time, then entombed him in the ground.
Day and night I wept so much, in tears I thought I'd drown.
I searched my soul for comfort, but no peace therein was found.

In great despair, I hit my knees and then began to pray.
"Father will I ever see, my dog again someday?"
I raised my eyes and saw an angel standing near a gate.
I sensed an inner peace I'd never felt before that day.

The angel smiled and said to me, "Oh man of little faith!
God sees every bird that falls; He knows your bully's fate.
I have met your little dog, I saw him pass my way.
Your precious dog is still alive; he just walked through this gate.

Paradise is lovelier than you can comprehend.
No pain or grief, no tears or fears, and life will have no end.
God gave to man His only Son, to cover all his sins.
So why would God withhold from you, your pure and loving friend?”

The angel took me by the hand and said, "Now come with me.
A glimpse of paradise I'll give, to you so you can see."
Through the gate and o'er the Rainbow Bridge we did proceed.
Through green valleys filled with flowers, rolling hills and trees.

“Wow, so this is paradise!” The place was filled with joy.
I saw my bully playing there, with dogs and cats and toys.
He also had some doggie treats, and food that he enjoyed.
He'd made a lot of new friends there, including girls and boys.

Then I saw a child come near, and hug my little mate.
She said to him, "I love you so," and kissed him on the face.
The angel said, "The child just crossed the Rainbow Bridge today.
Now she needs a little friend, to love and help her play.

God’s love for her would be enough, in that make no mistake.
But in His love, He knew full well, the child would want a mate.
This is why God called your dog unto this splendid place.
God’s entrusted her with him, ‘til you pass through the gate."

I pleaded, “May I hug them both?!” The angel answered, “No!
You’d violate a sacred site, and now it’s time to go.”
He led me back across the Bridge and through the gate to home.
He left me there with new-found hope and peace within my soul.

If someone ever asks what happens to a dog that dies,
Just give a gentle smile of joy and look them in the eye.
Take their hand and comfort them and tell them not to cry.
For dogs don’t die, they simply cross a bridge to paradise.

-Dan Atcheson-

Please accept our condolences, Jen.

I don't know what it is about that staircase that makes it look so inviting to me. When I saw it, I thought it would make a nice "come on up to Amy's Place" graphic. I intentionally placed the text on it so that it would look like part of the palm tree mural........don't know that I accomplished my goal. I am thinking now that it just looks like a really bad cropping job. LOL!

I think that staircase graphic is interesting. The more you look at it the more interesting (inviting) it becomes.

Oh, my gosh, Jen, I am so sorry!! I truly do know what you are going through. My 12 year old Dachshund, Bear, died in my arms a week ago Friday, on the way to the Vet. His poor old tired heart just couldn't keep beating any longer. Then, my niece, scubachick, told me Friday that her 17 year old dog, Chelsea, died in her arms that morning. We are devastated, as I know you must be.

I share you grief, ((((((((Jen)))))))).

I found this quote by James Herriot when I was searching for some comforting words for my niece.....

Responding to a dying old woman's inquiry
James Herriot, the late British author/veterinarian noted:

"If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. You've nothing to worry about there." He goes to note regarding animals joining their masters in the afterlife:
"I do believe it. With all my heart I believe it."
