Episode III SUX!

Posted on 06/01/2005 8:11:16 PM PDT by ElTiante

It was unbearably boring. Sure the last 20 minutes were ok, but the preceding two hours left me yawning. I’ve just seen it all before; guys in white armor with laser guns, guys hitting each other with light sabers, the stilted dialog, dinner theater acting and Lucas’ eight grade lefty politics. It all left me bored.

I must confess to laughing out loud at Vader’s McBain impression (MENDOZA!!!)

I’m so glad it’s over.

"Time and popularity have proven those criticisms to be wrong...."

I wouldn't say that.

Great thoughts and words on this "stinker". I enjoy scifi and even "bad" movies alla B-movies channel. But this movie was a ganster-in-disguise because it robbed me of my movie dollar. Some thoughts on this film:
1. GAWDDDD.. way too long.
2. GAWWDDD...NO acting required. The stars are just as wooden as the trees of Endor.
3. GAWWWDD...Dialogue !??? What dialogue??
4. GAWWDDD...NO drama in this "should be" drama themes.
5. GAWDDD....NOT enough of Yoda!

The Hollywood money crowd is experiencing as HUGE drop in movie ticket sales, although you wouldn't know it because of very selective Liberal media reporting to us. All of the movies this summer, including Ep 3, have not made changed this. ***This is a DVD rental at best!

Enough with the "collectible" marketing, over-hype, and drama killing CGI scenes.
GAWDD, were are the real writers and actors in Hollywood today? Are All summer films made for slobberin' 12 year olds?

See, Vader's scream of "Noooooo!" at the end reminded me of McBain from the Simpsons.

MENDOZA!!!!!!

I want my $9 back!

You couldn’t be more correct.

The best movie I’ve seen this year was “The Incredible.” That movie had authentic and snappy dialog as well as great acting and fun and fast paced plot. If Luc-Ass’ turgid mess was half as fun as “The Incredible” it would have been a success.

Oh and another thing. I WAS PROMISED WOOKIES! I WAS EXPECTING MORE THAN 12 SECONDS OF THEM!

I can’t wait for “Charlie and the Chocolate factory”

Everyone beotched about that. Peter, the original wookie, came to a barbecue we attended couple of years ago, and we were really looking forward to seeing him on the screen again. Sheesh. If you'd taken a sip of your coke you woulda missed the entire wookie planet.

And I was in a big theater full of other people who said the movie sucked.

Sure.

When it comes to the story, Lucas is/was like Irwin Allen. Vader being Luke's father was one of the lamest ideas ever.

I don't think either realize(d) just how fortunate they were as far as the art department, composers, model makers, effects people, etc.

Sorry, it was true with my sceening too, Pard.
What would you call a theater in which all that was heard from the audience was the muffled assorted tones of many viewers SNORING throughout the film and little else?

Just about ANYTHING is better that this debacle. I think the fans are making this sorry film more than it is just because they wanted it to be more of a BIG finish for the whole SW franchise when this clearly didn't have the goods!

I think Lucas should get a dialogue writer or ghost-writter to dialogue his films in the future. He has admitted in several interviews that he is a lousy writter and average director in reality. He has said he was only a great cameraperson & great editor who got a chance to play makebelieve in those other film jobs due to the money made.

PS....This film is really going to look especially sucky when Lucas tries to sell the complete DVD set of all episodes and people watch the first three and then the last three back-to-back.

I went to see episode iii. The theater's air conditioning sent chills up and down my spine.

So you really did survey the entire theater of people like you claimed?

Only a complete idiot would believe your statement.

Not really. Only to those who have become old fogies and lost their imaginations somewhere along the line. There's no such divergence in the films. Why do you take this so seriously? It's about having fun, nothing more.

He has said he was only a great cameraperson & great editor who got a chance to play makebelieve in those other film jobs due to the money made.

The picture you are trying to paint makes no sense given Episode IV.

I was in a theater of approx 30 people on a Sunday afternoon. As I left, I actually DID talk to most of the people in attendance. At one point, a group of about 7 gathered outside the doors talking. I had already exchanged verbage/glances/rolled eyes with several people around me. Every one of the people I spoke to inside and outside as we walked to our cars did NOT like the film.

I belong to a Sci Fi Club, and none of them, not one, thought this was his best effort. That's in addition to the theater.

Sorry! Hope you and Mr. Lucas can get over it! IMHO only a complete idiot would have enjoyed that dialog.

I have said my comments based on knowing my topic of Lucas's biography and having read several press interviews during his full career. I have seen ALL the SW episodes and I am a science fiction fan of all genres. I am merely giving you my opinion based on years of film knowledge and experience.
Attacking the poster and not their comments is a bad idea. And I won't resort to the use of mis-catagorizing folks("old fogies & etc.") against you or any other posters volunteering their different opinions on this topic. Doing so, as you have done, is very counterproductive to your post. Your mileage may differ.
