Good evening. I hope you are having a blessed day what is left of it. I read The Hobbit and am almost halfway through Fellowship of the Ring and now I understand where all the thread titles come from ;o)

Ah - did you recognize some of the lines?

We started out just using nice 'sound bite' lines from the books, in willy nilly order according to mood.

The last several now, I've been going line by line through the poem at the top of the thread. It ends with the part of the verse Pippin sang in RoTK.

SO how do you like the books? Any comments/observations/questions/reviews?

So you're just now reading them for the first time? How cool!

Sometimes I wish I could forget all I know about the books and the movies and start again without any preconcieved ideas and with it all being new to me. Of course, I enjoy rereading 'em...and I notice new things every time I do, but there's something to be said for the wonder of reading a really amazing book - or books - for the first time. I envy you that! You'll have to let us know your thoughts as you go through them!
