The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

As I understand, she had a very large rooster that would not properly fertilize (or whatever it is roosters do as men), and her mother suspected the rooster (named "Rupert" I think) was gay.

Of course, as soon as I heard the tale, I knew Rupert was a big gay cock.

I have a thing called a cooplet...it's merely a 2'x2' box that consists of masonite siding. The top is a piece of netting. The bottom is open to the earth. I painted it with daisies all over it. I put thenuggets in there with their food and water and let them scratch around, eat bugs and bask in the sun that filters through the trees...all quite safely.

This is the fourth generation of chicks that's used that cooplet...been a great little tool!

Local news story about three buffalo that got loose from a local ranch and wandered through a neighborhood... police caught one of them, the other two are camped out in a field waiting for their owner to come claim them...

Oooohkay.

We're gonna watch "The Music Man". I've seen it enough to freep through it whilst singing.

Next Tuesday or Wednesday either cyborg or I will post photos of the elk we spot over the weekend. They're just as big and dumb, but they have a state license to roam at will.

Is Rupert any relation to this fellow, perhaps?

I think "playing backgammon" is a nice way of saying "getting to know you better".

Rose and I certainly knew each other a lot better, afterwards.

Nah, we cottoned to it right quick. There were signs mentioning the elevation! Doesn't I-80 go through a tunnel through the mountain somewhere around there?
