The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Don't forget the St. Christopher clip for the sun visor! ;-)

You'll be OK...though I admit I did have my sister with me. She didn't so much navigate as talk me out of panic mode when required. It wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined it'd be, though.

Miss Cat chews sometimes but mostly, she licks.

Yup, we got that! Talon is a licensed NRA safety instructor dude, and g'nad acted as our range master. When we were doing handgun practice, we had three targets and three supervisors. I think the only way we could have been safer would have been to not load the guns, and where's the fun in that.

Heh, we got our choice of about fifteen lovely pieces of deadliness.

Not with all the live ammo going off around there. :)

You know that sign g'nad has that says "Trespassers will be killed and eaten"?

Yeah.

Don't think anything happened... I suggested kidnapping thegirl but even though Rosie loves her more than I do, she thought it would be unwise to kidnap the daughter of a man who has his own arsenal. And hundreds of acres on which to hide a body.

It seemed an odd dimension for a coop.

On that run, once east of the NJ line by about 10-15 miles, it unwinds into an easy, roomy, non-aggressive run.

The tough part is the mixmaster at Throgs Neck in the Bronx. Even then, not too bad.

Keep to the upper deck on the GW and the express on the 95 in Jersey.

If a country mouse like me can handle it, anyone can.

Terry is in Indiana, then Mexico next week. Aimee' and I are going to drive down to Galveston tom for a day or so. She is going back to Calif to finsh up what little she needs to graduate. The school gave her scholorships, so it's a go. So we are going to try to have some good times before she is gone again.

We're realizing we don't know the apartment complex's rule on firearms.

I can't imagine they forbid 'em entirely...but maybe I'm naive. Just seems like it'd be too hard to enforce in this kinda area.

I just want a .22 rifle and a smallish revolver. Is that so much to ask? Hmm...

Did you ladies have to clean the guns afterwards? Did you find the smell of Hoppe's No.9 to be as sensual as I do?

Sounds like a pretty good size pen for a couple fat chickens, though. They sound like heavy bastards, and if that's the case, a short "fence" would do. Let'em pick out dough and feed in a controlled range.

I'll say! LOL I'll try to remember not to point the gun in his general direction.
