When I really start looking seriously, I'll be trying to keep it under two hundred...maybe even close to a hundred. I don't need anything fancy! I figure my best bet is probably finding a place that's getting rid of an older model that's being replaced.
And I know what you mean about the size. I've used a vey tiny Canon before...an Elph? Something like that. Sure, it was easy to carry, but it was darned hard to hold onto, and hard to see what you were doing, too. I'll take ease of use over small size any day.
I would guess that you are using too high a gear for your riding. Usually that's when the knees start to hurt. Try lower gears but spinning the pedals faster, and make sure you are shifting down far enough on your hills. Also, each day you will feel a little differently on the bike, some days are always stronger than others. Listen to your legs and if you are feeling not as strong one day, just spin easily rather than trying to keep up with the speed that you rode the day before.
Another thought is to make sure you are not twisting anything as you pedal, make sure your stroke is straight down (actually circular, forward-down-back-up) and that there is no side-to-side pressure on your knees.
Knees are often very sensitive, so be sure not to push too hard when they hurt, they are easily injured. It may be a good idea to spread out your biking days more, i.e. bike 2 days, take a rest day, then bike another day, take another rest day. That gives your muscles time to recover so that they will better suport your joints.
Those are just some ideas, if I think of anything else, I'll pass it along.
I have this great money-making scheme...
We go to B&N, you cause a distraction, I sneak into the back and steal a few copies of the new HP book, and then we sell it on the black market.
Ok! Good hints! I do tend to sort of wobble side-to-side and I think my knees wobble too.
I'll try resting over the weekend and see how that works.
Keep us posted.
You got that from your dream, didn't you?
Evil, evil subconscious you have.
The price on this one looks like it would be a refurbished model, but I called the place and they said it was brandy new. It is a VEY good price!
I'd think seat level could make a big difference, too. I wonder if the seat has scooted down a bit. Could that be?
I've been having very odd, very vivid dreams lately. I think it's because I haven't done enough writing.
I've got a project for over the long weekend, though! A nice character-study work. Have to research smallpox and other nasty diseases this afternoon.
Mmm...yeah, it's neat looking! And Olympus has a good digital camera reputation. My brother has an older Olympus...I like it.
Next time I'm at Best Buy I'll have to do some scouting. Maybe Circuit City? And you guys have Staples...there aren't any here, and the Office Depot / Office Max stores don't strike me as being quite as technology oriented.
Ring around a rosey,
Pocket full of posey.
Naaah, Bubonic Plague is largely survivable in modern times because it's not the plague that kills you, it's the symptoms.
But you can blame it on the squirrels!
Ornery flea-bearing varmints!
I believe they do have some cameras in the store, though, so you could at least hold a few to see what you do and do not like. It's hard to tell online just how small or unwieldy in your hands they're likely to be.
You could always create a drug resistant form of something rather innocent. Or a mutation of something that's always been spread by blood contact - make it capable of spreading by air or something.
No, no, it's a terrorist thing.
Train full of people gets attacked, so they're put in quarantine and get to wonder for the next three weeks who's gonna die.
Let loose a horde of rag-headed squirrels on the train...
Yep - that's for sure.
It's not supposed to be a comedy...
The point of the story is as an exercise for me in developing character. I've got seven people with names, jobs, and a vague idea of their character and desires. Everything else I'll figure out as I go along.
With luck, by the end, no reader could tell that each person's character flaws were inspired by one of the seven deadly sins. Did you know that "sloth" is more correctly translated "apathy" or "hopelessness"?
