I don't think you're supposed to feel ~any~ regular pressure in your chest, Corin.
Uh... why don't you call your doc and ask? They've probably got a nurse or something who answers the phone and can reassure you and/or say get checked out, right?
No. I know them. They'll say "do you think you need to come in?"
I know you're not supposed to feel pressure in your chest Hair. But, like I said, it's always been attributed to stress before.
And, Lord knows, I've got my share of that.
Well - do you think you need to go in?
Two weeks seems like a long time... but I dunno.
I have the same thing, my friend...chest pressure, tightness, even pain and shortness of breath. It's caused by stress, anxiety, depression (not the clinical, just the occasional depression...you know, sadness.)
The only cure that I have found, short of medication for anxiety which I won't take under any circumstances (but came close to considering last year about this time), is just doing things to take your mind off it. For me, it was focusing on that Beetle...that did me a world of good.
Probably all my little obsessions are my way of dealing with the stresses in my life...they don't run us to ruin, so I don't worry about them and I gotta think that it's better than medication. Once I feel better, the obsession wanes, although the commitment I've made during it doesn't.
Find something that makes you basically happy.
If any shrink ever tried to tell me that my obsessions are unhealthy, I'd tell 'em that coping with stress in a productive way is better than taking a pill and to blow it out...well, you know.
This is not medical advise and you should REALLY make sure you always are current on your health evaluations...IOW, get a check-up!
I'm not a doctor, although I play one in my mind.
You and I seem to be pretty intense people and I think this is just how it manifests it's self.
Since this latest round kicked in around the time I got the cholesterol numbers, I'm thinking that's probably what it is. It has been in the past.
If I didh't have all the risk factors, I'd write it off as mini panic attack.
Is there anything they could do as a quick check - one that wouldn't involve hours and hours of testing?
Seems like it'd be worth at least doing that, if only to keep you from worrying.
Well, I'm in no position to credibly lecture. You prolly know what you should do to be on the safe side.
Depends on where I go. If I walk across the street to MCV, I'm there for hours.
If I go to thedoctorsoffice, I'm in for at least a chest x-ray, maybe an EKG.
That's why I was counting on you to say I should just ride it out. ;-)
You know what you should do, and you probably already know what you will do ;~D
Get it checked out... dealing with Rasputin et al, might trigger something any day...
I'm on hold for thenurse.
Sigh...thenurse said I should go to the ER and have it checked just in case.
Not to fret. I'll check in later.
Good!
Not that it'll be fun, mind you...
Let us know.
If it's stress, it's actually spasms in your chest you're feeling. An EKG wouldn't be a bad idea, however...they're cheap and easy.
I had my worst attack when I was in nursing school. Literally couldn't swallow, the spasms in my esophagus were so bad. I had a do or die math test the next day at school and was in an absolute panic.
Then last year, when the world felt like it was crashing down around me, I had an attack on the way to church and Steve literally had to bring me home, I couldn't swallow and I could barely breathe.
Then he got me the Beetle. I had already started talking about it if you recall and then he got me one as quick as he could...
The longest obsession I ever had was running. I had a long-distance relationship with a guy in Austin for three years...made several trips a year to see him and spoke with him constantly on the phone. I finally finished nursing school and moved to Austin (even though he said he didn't think I could afford to live there.) Just a few weeks after I moved there, he married someone else.
I started running and didn't stop till I ran that marathon. Ran the whole rocky first three years with Steve. Ran up until I was 7 months pregnant with Matthew. Then, just like Forrest Gump...I stopped! :-) I was done.
I was good too. I used to run races in Austin and guess what? The guy that got married right after I moved there? He and his wife would run too. I was MUCH better than her and I would cheer for her when she'd finish, 15-20 minutes after I had. He'd look at me and I'd smirk at him. He knew I was being sarcastic.
Heh. I love thinking about that.
There are several sites with refurbished or reconditioned cameras, but SSQ said to avoid them like the plague! We've seen a couple that are very small, but Clare has long fingers, and she's always worried about sticking her finger in front of the lens all unawares. ;o) We'll find something, but prices sure have come down in the last couple of years. You can get a 3 or 4 megapixel camera for less than $250 these days!
Well then, ASG, you 'll just have to get a bigger microwave oven!
I ended up making some Chicken Salad. Yummm! But that coffee sure was good. Might make another cup for the road!
Talk to you when you get back :~|
Have you had problems with allergies, pollen, etc? Sometimes I'll get a tightness in my chest and shortness of breath, and it's because my bronchial tubes are shrinking from the effects of pollen, etc.
