The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Is your original jpg of these two group pics larger-- Higher Res? Can you email the originals to me as an attachment? When we do the Moot album at the THH.net we could sure use a larger pic that we can crop in closer and really see faces!

LOL!! Saint Howitzer!!

When we were in Puerto Rico back in 1985, I learned that St. Barbara was the Patron Saint of Gunners. I've never learned why, but I thought that was kinda cool.

They already think we're some sort of cult folks. Now we can worry them into thinking we must be militia types too!

er... we're not cult militia types? oops....

A quick Internet search determined that she was converted to Christianity against her father's will and he had her tortured and beheaded for it. Right after that he was killed by lightening hence she ended up becoming the patron saint of things like lightening and sudden death. Since sudden death and destruction from the clear blue sky is what artillery is all about she is also the patron saint of gunners.

I think it would be terrific for the next homeschooling thread.

Maybe I'll put it on a t-shirt!

Oh, and 2J found that the 7.62 had a much more 'satisfying' recoil than the .223.

:D

In other news from the Stormhands household...

I told Jr. it's kind of a commentary on life when late at night we hear Nana crying out in pain...

...and the good news is that she was ~only~ throwing up.

Yeah, I looked her up on Wikipedia and found that. I'd always wondered, but never looked it up.

s'ok. She was over whatever it was pretty quick.

And, like I said, any midnight yells that aren't a hip displacement can't be all that bad.
