The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

How did they made with two different shoes and get identical offspring?

(btw, have you moved the pictures? I couldn't get to them from the main Hobbit Hole page)

I think heels are recessive.

ecurbh says he just realized the links are broken, the galleries are still there, and he'll fix it when he gets home.

He's got a list of stuff to do, like the Shootmoot pages and such.... and he'll have time now that we won't be having s..... ;~D

Actually, my migraines ceased for 2 years after becoming pregnant...both times. I got them several times a year before Matthew, but never as much since becoming pregnant with him. I get them now, but never like I used to.

Argh! I am so frustrated!

You know I got those live kefir grains...well, they don't seem to want to ferment and I keep trying and just keep getting rotten milk.

So I contacted a woman that lives about 45 minutes from here and she said she'd give me some of hers. I offered to buy a gallon of her fresh goat milk in appreciation. But then Steve said he didn't want to drive that far with our car being so iffy, you know...and we don't have a cell phone.

So I emailed the lady back and thanked her but told her we wouldn't be coming for the milk.

So she emails me back and says she has a lady coming from Tulsa that she would send the milk with and I could just drop the payment in the mail at my convenience. How nice! But I really don't want goats milk (although I don't mind it), what I'm really after is the kefir grains!

So I emailed her back and asked if she could send the grains as well. Got no response.

So then I get this email late last night...it is from the woman from Tulsa saying "I have your gallon of goat milk, can you come get it quickly, my fridge is too small to hold it for long."

So I emailed the woman from Tulsa and said I'd be happy to come and get the milk quickly the next day (today). Told her I would call her at 9am today, which I did and got no answer.

No mention was made of the grains.

Sigh.

So I am waiting for this lady to call me back. I bet you anything she is at work and I don't hear from her till tonight. I don't know what her definition of quick is, but mine is just dang near immediate. If she was gonna make me wait till after work, she shoulda said so...like "Could you come and get it tomorrow at around 6pm?"

You watch...I won't even get my kefir grains.

Ahem...

Never mind.

She just contacted me and I'm picking up the goat milk at 1:30pm.

But I was right...no grains. She said she goes back frequently and will pick them up next time.

That is frustrating! Sorry about the spoiled milk. :(

I'm frustrated with these stupid reports. I'm only halfway through the first of four. They're mostly copies of each other with some changes on dates and such. But still.

They serve no purpose - they are stupid, bureaucratic, red-tape, "process promoting" wastes of my time.

I'd really rather be painting my family room. *HARUMPH*

Grrrrr! A wasted trip! That kind of thing *always* tries my patience.

I've been saving up for curtains in my dining room. So I drive nearly an hour (it's the traffic, not the distance) to go to JC Penny's. They're having a sale. I place my order with the uber-perky sales lady. She comes out from the storeroom and says, "Gee we only have 2 of the 5 valences you need. We can place a catalog order and have them delivered." So I agreed and they sent the wrong color. Means another drive down there. I get there and I'm irritated and the uber-perky sales twit looks at me like, "what's the big deal? Only a crazy weirdo *wouldn't* want to come to the mall!" *Grrrr*

It's Monday. You're entitled to feel that way.

Whew, ride was pretty good and nobody's here yet so I have a few brief moments of peace and quiet... my soda tastes incredibly sweet, which means (since it's diet) that I seem to be well in the carb-less part of the diet.... and I'm down almost half a pound since Friday. Maybe. I need a more precise scale.

Here's hoping it's a decent week.

ARGHH! I hate malls. The only reason I used to go to one was because of Popeyes chicken.

Then they built another Popeyes and I go to that one.

The folks that own the two Popeyes go to my church!

Anyway, I hate a wasted effort period...this kefir seems to be eluding me.

We have a couple of upscale "open air" malls that opened up a couple of years ago. We go to a couple of the restaurants in the one closest to us. And we'll occasionally go to the JCPenney at the other mall. But I can't remember the last time I was actually "inside" the mall.

Incidentally, one of the open air malls opened the day Isabel hit. The other opened a week later when we were hit with three tornados.

"Evasive Kefir" fits nicely in the keywords.

More precise and wouldn't it you just taunt you with changes in hydration and clothes?
I am not sure how acurate my scale is. The one at the gym reads 10 pounds different. I think I am down 3 since I started this tri training but I am not sure. The last time I did anywhere near this much exercise I was 10 or 15 pounds lighter :P
On the bright side that makes me think I could do a much longer triathlon with more training and losing 20 or 30 pounds.
