Yowsers! We're going some work in the garage today. SSQ is putting a radiant barrier up in the ceiling of the garage, up to the peak. I'm doing the measuring of the length needed and the cutting of the slits that will go around the roof joists and the vertical 2 x 4's connecting the roof joists to the ceiling joists below them. Got 2 done and we'll need 6 more. This stuff is 48" wide, but we need to do some overlapping in areas; we're installing it laterally along the roof joists so it's easier to screw it on.
It's HOT in there right now, so we're taking a break. I told SSQ he needed to take a nap early this evening, then go out there again around midnight when it's WAY cooler! He installed a little A/C out there, so this radiant stuff will keep the heat from the roof from coming down into the garage. The A/C will be able to do some cooling, and it will be a great work space for him. We're fixing to cut the back wall out to install a door and put a small deck out there so it will be easy to bring building materials right through the garage and not have to drive the trailer around the house to the back yard. We can just back the trailer into the garage and move the stuff from there. That door will eventually be the entrance from the garage to the new foyer.
So the question is...how do I leave the sunroom when I'm out of town for a week in the summer? Should I just hope it doesn't rain that week?
I know Vail and Aspen have been mentioned as Rocky Mount Moot sites, but what about Breckenridge? It's closer to Denver for those of us who have to fly in. Is it as pretty an area as the others?
Evenin' everyone.
I can definitely make the ROTK chat-view, but I have one teensy weensy little problem.
My EE was loaned out and I forgot all about it until I just went to pull it from my bookshelf. I'm so blasted mad at myself.
I ~never~ lend out my movies, but of course, the one time I break my own rule - well, there you have it. ~sigh~
I have the Theatrical, so I'll have to pause on occasion. Just keep me informed as to where you are please. :-D
Dunno, never been there! Aspen is pretty definitely out of it, Vail's at the edge of do-able. But I suppose we could do a day trip to Aspen if we stay near Vail, it'd only be three or so hours more and they've got lovely hiking.
Will look at Breckenridge and see what we can see...
It's like I'm experiencing an existential crisis...
You're not alone....
Is there a slight overhang on the roof? If you have double hung windows, you could lower the top half slightly, just to let the room vent. The overhang should keep the rain out.
I thought I was in the chat-room, but it looks as though I'm the only one there, and I know that's not right. Could you please freepmail me the URL so's I can join everyone?
Hullo.... we're having trouble getting in.... getting hung up loading the chat room.... Everyone else in there?
Lost it is...
Yahoo booted me just as Sam came back!!
That was fun! I was able to open the movie and have the chat window and movie going at the same time!
It was fun! Even with General Chat!
Nope. No overhang on the roof. And no double hung windows. It's two sliding glass doors on each side.
Sorry we didn't make it back.... I came to check in once but General Chat had kicked me out.
I needed to flake on the couch to watch that. Been a long time since I gave it my undivided attention!
