The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

there's a spaghetti dinner at the pool, so I still may be late, but I'll be there before Denethor flames out.

Seeya...

I am so bored. Trying to research Java debugging methods and tools and such so when my advisor calls me in next week I'll have done something. Friday afternoon is not a good time for this.

You haven't been around all day... ignoring us or have better things to do? Work can't be the answer, but perhaps you were defeating ninja.

Got another email through the Hobbit Hole website this morning...

I saw the email this morning. Five Camillus BK2s will be going to these Bandits (our fame has spread throughout the battalion) as soon as I can prep the knives for shipping.

Nah, just goofing off mostly. Slept in a little because I worked out a bit extra last night. Had some new goodies for my bike I just had to try out. I will take out out again tonight for a more serious run.

Heh... I rode mine to work and back today (back was really hard. Too hot. Took me almost 40 minutes, instead of 25). I need some goodies, too, but have to wait until I get paid next week.

Yawn. Now my brain is shutting down from this Java stuff. Boooring.

Good job on the riding, Jen! I always have the most trouble riding back home...I am always tempted to try to bum a ride off of someone. But it's good that once I've ridden in to work I'm more or less stranded and have to ride home. It's twice as much uphill going home as it is coming to work, which is probably a good thing in the long run. I'm always wishing I could just skip that last hill altogether. It also takes me about 15 minutes longer to get home as it does to get to work too, so I know what that's like!

Yeah, really. It's great that no one got hurt.

I recall one fire-training video we watched at work: it showed a fire burning in a tank storage area.

Narrator:"What would you do?"

Me: "Run like hell."

Say, which ROTK do y'all plan on watching? Regular or extra-long?

I'm watching Fellowship now.... got interested in it after the discussion on that other thread this morning and we missed it this last time on the chat view.

Battling orcses toward the end now.... Boromir appears to be gravely injured, Aragorn's talking to him. Not sure what's happened to Frodo, he said he was leaving.

As it turns out, you are right! Sam did know.

The other three are trying to figure out what to do now... I think they are going to hunt orcses... ah yes... that's what they just decided to do.

Cue music... closing remarks by Frodo and Sam.... and.... roll credits.

I haven't ever timed the EE credits. It'd be interesting to do so.
