The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Ugh.

Biking 3.5 miles, and too much of that uphill, in 86 degrees, was stupid.

I've been doing rice in the microwave for years! I'd always forget it and scorch it on the stove. My micro can be programmed, so I put it on high for 5 mins. to bring the water to a boil, then program it to go half power for another 15 mins. I don't even put oil in it and it turns out great!

Does WA state allow for private health plans? We couldn't even get a private plan for David when we thought we may not get Cobra coverage for him during the several months before he started Grad School and the UT health plan became available.

The ceremonial Friday afternoon watching of the clock has begun.

Just not so sure I'll make it until 5:00 p.m....

Yeah, there are plenty of temporary insurance options available. Just a matter of deciding which coverage level, deductible, monthly payment etc. will work out for us.

Sticklebats!

Rasputin has been out all week at a meeting 2 hours from here. This afternoon he drove back to town (past his house BTW) and he's likely to show up at any moment.

It's just not normal.

That's.... just wrong.

I asked my dad the other night if he'd be going to work after his plane got in - he said it got in after noon so he wouldn't bother. That's a normal attitude ;-)

Well, he got here about 15 minutes ago and is in with the boss (who I thought was leaving at 3:00).

I'm trying to decide if I want to run errands on the way home or just do it all in the a.m. Need to go to theDollarStore and Lowes. But I've got a load to take to the landfill in the a.m., I could do it then.

Sorta thinking I'll take this evening "off." But we're taking Luke to King's Dominion tomorrow afternoon (don't tell him, he doesn't know), so I don't want to be too rushed.

Jr. left for choir tour this morning.
