The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I was really surprised they even let us on the property while they were doing that.
To: ExGeeEye
Yup. I call it my "virtual pub".
And what's up with the NINE hour drive? Blech!

Hehehe....I know what my expression would be. And this was in one of those big fancy schmancy McMansion type houses.

My job entails visiting customers around this part o' the state.
All customers are far; some customers are farther.

I'd say most folks' expressions would be in the vicinity of "OH CRAP!"

I woulda used the more vulgar version. :)

All customers are far; some customers are farther. You don't gotta visit very often, do ya?

"Hmmm....wonder if it's really nitro?. Let's find out...."
To: RMDupree
I see some of them nearly every day, but never all of them the same day, and some of them right rarely.

I have a hard enough time dealing with some of my clients on the phone, let alone having to go visit them in person.
Thank goodness most of my clients are really nice people.

Yeah - all's well that ends well, but I'm not happy it happened. He should not have been able to get out.

On the subject of nitro...
I had a patient one time that was using nitroglycerin paste for his heart...it came in a tube and you carefully measured out a certain amount...it was strong stuff and only took a little dab. Like a fourth of an inch. Then you place it on his chest and it absorbed through the skin.
Well, I go to get the paste out of his medication drawer and it's not in there! I'm mumbling and grumbling, looking for the nitro paste and my aide hears me and says "You lookin' for this butt cream?" I said "What?" She says "Yeah, I got this butt cream out of his drawer...it's doing a great job on his rash!"
My aide had been slathering great gobs of the stuff on that guy's butt...no kidding.

He should not have been able to get out. Check the doorknob for Gidget's paw prints.
To: Corin Stormhands
Heh... with her wildly barking at the storm, and him scared to death, I'm wondering if he didn't bolt to get away from her.
To: RMDupree
Thank goodness most of my clients are really nice people. Heh. I'm hoping someday to not *only* talk to angry people that are fed up with somethingorother and howcomethisdamn computer don'ta wanna work? :-)
To: HairOfTheDog
Oh, that is scarey...really glad ol' Homer is OK!
We had a huge thunder and lightning storm up here too -- counted more than two dozen lightning flashes in downtown before it moved on. One big drench too...then it got muggy.
