The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I enjoy fun books. I'll have to look for that series. I've seen Janet Ivanovich books in the library, I just didn't know much about them.

Black Hawk just flew over the house! We waved like mad.

God bless 'em and keep 'em safe!

Oops! Evanovich! I just checked the library online record and it looks like my town's branch has all of them!

Nnngh.

I have to do laundry but I just wanna lie down. Feel incredibly lousy. Good thing I have flexible hours. And male coworkers who believe phrases like "you don't want to know".

Yay, now you can get into Japan without having to beat a ninja at mortal combat (or Mortal Kombat, as the case may be)

Yeah, well, I ain't too Ninja, so I'd be out of luck! I am doing a walking program each day, though, to get my self in some shape for all the walking we're planning to do!

I forgot to mention. When I was at the manga store (b&n) two days ago they had a new series, FMP overdrive. Seems like the spawned a parallel FMP manga line with another artist but and similar antics. Check it out.

You know the best thing about having laundry machines in the basement? If I leave a big pile of clean stuff I am too lazy to fold down there on a table it does not pickup cat hairs from them making nests in it. I can just close the door and suddenly I have cat hair free clothes again.

Hehehe, sometimes I leave my laundry in the basket, in my room. Rosie's cats aren't allowed in here, so no cat hair.

I've been waiting to get a look at FMP Overdrive - our B&N will probably get it in, oh, six weeks. They're very stupid about getting new things in on time. And if they do get it, they leave it on little book dollies for days and days. I always go around the store spying at the dollies for things I like and taking it off them.

I'm doing a walk this evening...the young adults group at church is getting together for a short hike and a picnic afterwards, unless it turns to rain.

I almost don't wanna go. Having one of those days where everything makes me want to cry or kill or both. ;-) But I'm gonna have some Tension Tamer and then hope I feel better once I'm actually at the meeting point.

There you go! It'll do you good to get out and about with some folks from the Parish!

Good thing you went, because while I was out reading, I could just feel this wave of depression come settle in on me. Probably will be a rough day or so for me... or maybe for you... being somewhere else is probably good.

Funny, I never feel like crying when I'm like this. I just get gloomy and Eeyorish.

B&N did not have the FMP book, but the bookstore at the mall does (they get their shipments at the same time B&N does, but don't have room to store stuff so the clerks put it out right away. Unlike B&N which is staffed by superlazy hippy sycophants.)

Well, we just had a mini drama.... When we got home from taking the truck back to dad, no Homer anywhere. He was freaked by thunderstorms as we were leaving, but we didn't think he could get out. Not sure how he did end up getting out, but assume he busted through the electric in the front, which would have freaked him out worse.

We were worried sick, and we drove around stopping at houses and calling for about half an hour, and thankfully, he went to a house who would look at his tag and call. He was a little ways down the road. He's lucky he didn't get hit.

This is just thunder... we haven't even had fireworks yet for the fourth. I'm beginning to understand why he ended up lost in front of the store.
