The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

What's your grandfather's first name. I'll put him on our Parish Prayer list this week. Is this your Mom's Dad or your Dad's?

Boromir in the boat was more real looking than real..

That WAS disconcerting, wasn't it? Did y'all get a picture at the set-up where they were doing forced perspectives? Clare and I did that at the exhibit in Boston. If I can figure out a way to set it up, I'll send it later.

I was a hobbit, and had my picture taken with my friend who was Eowyn..If there would've been a really "authentic" Gandalf there, I probably would've tried to get him to pose with me in the "cart".

That WAS disconcerting, wasn't it?

I read that they have to powder Boromir down when it's humid because the silicone sweats, and looks like beads of perspiration.

I also decided that at a younger age, I should've had a silicone sockmonkey made to be used at my funeral. Of course when you're dead, you can't hear people saying how good or bad you look, anyway...

I also liked the thing where you stood on the footsteps, and it told you what kind of creature you would be. I was correctly labeled as a halfling. I know people got a kick out of the little wisecracks it made. "Elvish has left the building."

We got interviewed and photo'd going into the exhibit first, but we didn't even ask the guy what paper or whatever it was for, so I'll probably never know.

At least in my previous fifteen minutes of fame marching around the Governor's Mansion with my "Cheatie's" Box, the reuter's guy told me it was going to be in papers around the globe..It's fun seeing your picture on Yahoo, and on the front page of foreign papers.

Yeah, we was already hitched, but couldnt afford the big to do at the time we got married. This was my gift to her after being gone for 16 months. I thought she had earned it. It really turned out beautiful.

We got back at 1:30 or so, unloaded the Highlander, OT got her things packed up. LSA had Ginger Beer iced up and we all had ham & swiss cheese sandwiches. Gypsygirl was glad to see me, or was it the ham and swiss on rye? Either is okay with me. :-)

Wonderful time folks, The G'nads are wonderful hosts. Hope all will continue homeward, safely and we'll all be awaiting the Entmoot of 2006.

To our many friends who were unable to make journey this time, we're looking forward to seeing at the Moot: You all with us in spirit.

Thanks g'nad. We hope to go there someday!

Well, we've put this off for far too long... we're off to return the truck to dad.

Got back a few minutes ago. The ground's a little wet (too wet to mow today...hehehehe) and the "garden" looks relatively unscathed. Miss Cat was glad to see me and I got some wet food out for the long-suffering cat. :)

The run back was 5hours and 45 mins. G'nad, that other route shaved off at least an hour 15, thanks!

After church Jen was thinking that a off season cabin rental around Aspen, say like, next august might be pretty cheap for a 'moot.
