The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You have such strange neighbors, 2J!

Morning... mumble, mumble... guess I'd better get in to work. I slept in today cuz I have reasons to drive, so it won't take me very long to get there.

Morning all! [sip]

2J: Battle Ground is a great area. Very rural. Lots of land.

Heh...I just washed a chicken butt.

One of the meat chicken's backside had gotten really pasted up. So I plopped it down in a bucket of shallow warm water. LOL! Too funny. You woulda thought I was gonna kill it right then, until that warm water hit it's butt! Then it was like "Ahhhh...warm water on the butt is niiiiice!" LOL

Got it all cleaned up, dried it off and put it back in it's pen with a big pile of warm sand...it's happily dusting it's self.

Oh yeah?

This job just calls for a BS...not an MS...

We would really like to work for Williams...they have a big presence here in Tulsa...so even if we have to move, we might could someday move back.

Ever read the book?

I don't remember if I ever read the book. Probably not, though I remember there was a copy of it around when I was a kid.

It's the sort of book that leads to other, more hardcore weirdness like "Hitchhiker's Guide". A gateway book, as it were.

Actually it's worth a read if you're ever trapped in a bookstore with no way out.

Outdoors? What is this outdoors of which you speak?

I'm really lucky, I have a window next to my desk. And a lovely view of the parking lot for the Mormon mission next door.

Personally I would probably reach for "Lock-picking for Dummies" at that point.

That kind of talk is just going to get the dwarves all riled up.

I'd just wait until they opened the next day. Good chance to catch up on my reading.

Also most bookstores don't carry any of the "Crime Made Easy" series of Dummies books. No Lockpicking, Firestarting, Con Job Setups, or Armed Robbery books in the local B&N.

Ya know, if'n ya marketed that type of thing you might afford to move to that farm a little sooner...

Course you could never show your face at Walmart or Sunday School again...

Heh heh!

I gotta interact with these beasts daily...they gotta be clean.

It looks a lot better...like a little white ball of feathers.

I was a nurse for 15 years...a little tiny chicken butt is nothing.
