The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

     | Upon the hearth the fire is red,Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
 Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!
 |
      |
      | Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!
 |
      |
Home is behind, the world ahead,And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
Well wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I heard that!!! It has long been my contention that the social "needs" of KC increased dramatically after Missourians okayed the lottery, and it has only gotten worse with the "boats". Glad to hear my suspicions were correct. LSA

Well, I'm back. What did I miss?

Seriesly, any mini-dramas upon which I need to be updated? I may or may not get time to read back through the thread.

Trip was good. We is tired.

Oh, and other news:

Good news: Sugar numbers are not up (I'm not diabetic).

Bad news: Cholesterol numbers ARE up...

To: Corin Stormhands
    Corin's back! Yay!

No dramas. A couple weirdoes had this anniversary yesterday so there's probably leftover cake. Lots of chicken posts, lots of bike posts. It's hot everywhere.

Tell us about your trip!

Welcome back.... we went on a lot of trail rides this weekend... posted a lot of pictures
here (this is the one where we saw the bear),
here,
and here....
So we've been away a lot ourselves, if there've been mini-dramas, we might have missed them too ;~D
Good news about the sugar... It isn't fun to have to worry about that.

Jen and I got bikes, I applied for a new and promising job, AND - and you're the first to hear this, 'sides Jen, of course - I got my back pay from work: the pay I was supposed to get when they finally created the new union they were gonna put my position under. I missed the deadline by two weeks, but apparently they decided to give it to me anyway.
Woo-hoo! I'm really, really happy that came through!

    Hi everyone!

Welcome back, Corin! :-D

It's been a long day. My ex-MIL was taken to the hospital today by paramedics. They've admitted her because her heart rate does not go above 50, when it's supposed to be somewhere around 60-70 (so the docs say).

I'll defer to 2J's knowledge on this subject.

I'm so tired of hospitals what with my grandfather and all, that it seems overwhelming to even consider the fact that my ex-MIL is in one now.

~sigh~

I don't mean to sound so selfish. :-(

    So you're over pineapples?

To: Overtaxed
    Oh not at all!

Just haven't done a full grocery for some time, so the pineapples are on lay-a-way. *laughing*

I'll get some next Friday for sure.

What else do you know? What made the paramedics come get her? Did she pass out?

Does she have a history of heart problems, do you know? Is she taking Lanoxin? It's a heart med that strengthens each beat of the heart, but can slow the rate down. If she's taking too much, that can happen.

Some people just get into a slow rhythm like that and won't come out. It's pretty easy to fix...I imagine they'll try medications first and maybe put in a pacemaker.

What she has is called Bradycardia. There can be any number of causes...

    Not selfish at all Ruthy.

And better you vent here rather than there.
