The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Um, yeah, well, I've seen you and you don't really need to lose weight. Not like this girl!
Thing is, I feel like I've got a pretty decent shape. It's just sort of... padded. I can't ever be a four, but eight is within my ability. And then I'd look hot - my mom's built like me, but she lost all her padding a few years back and maaaannn.
It's just depressing because I've got to the point where diet or exercise on their own do nothing, really. I need to get both together and that takes way too much willpower. And time.

I'll drink to that!
Dry wines have much fewer carbs than sweet ones... mmm... how lucky, since they're the ones I like.
I must be annoying the neighbors to no end, singing along to weird things that only I can hear. Good thing Rosie's out.

I'm trapped in my room with Disney's
Dinosaur on TV.
Becky has already watched Annie again.

You know it.
As crazy as we may be, this place has helped my sanity on many occasions.

And it's helped me - you're all my plastic pals who are fun to be with, complete with Genuine People Personalities.
Or something.

You know me - I offend on occasion, but never intentionally ;-)
If I hadn't met you in real life, I'd have never made that sort of joke. It's funny, to me, because I know you're a Real Person with a Real Personality and all.

Clare got a chance to try some karate at her summer camp last week. She liked it a lot, so I'm going to see if I can find a self-defense class locally or maybe get one going for homeschooled teenagers in the fall.

Never mind.
So, back to MountainMoot 2006...
Do you think Vail is a good choice? It looks fairly close to Denver if we want to take a day trip.

Vail is, I should say, on the limit of do-able for day trips. That is, I'd feel comfy recommending Vail, but no further on. Vail is, IIRC, 2 or 2-1/2 hours from Denver. And it's a gorgeous drive.
Estes Park is also doable, and so are some of the other communities along 70 between Denver and Vail. 70 heads up into the mountains about two miles from Denver, so anything from there on should be good. The airport is north-east of Denver.... one of the least convenient airports in the world as far as rental cars go.

I was thinking a day trip to Six Flags would be fun and affordable.
Or at least more affordable than Disney would be! ;-D
