The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Been through it a few times and up Pike's peak when I was too young to remember but never spent a lot of time there. Just about any places in the western part of the state would rule for those of us that are mountain deprived.
To: TalonDJ
Yeah, we'll find somewhere cool, yet close enough to Denver to make a trip there if we desire.
Man! Half my people just cancelled out of my planned anime night. Guess we'll put off until next week. :-( And with Rosie out picnicking, I'll just have to find some way to keep myself happy.

So far I haven't gotten in touch with anyone to get directions, so I dunno if I'm going to my deal, either. I know it's at City Park, but from what I understand, that's hugh, and unless I know a bit more...
You're welcome to come, ya know! We're just hanging out at the park...nothing churchy. There were some other non-Catholics at the last event, too.

That's ok, I don't want to cramp your style. If you don't know anybody there, you have to be a little more sociable.
And you were going to ask Sort-of-Cute Guy about ranges, remember?

Does PatriotMoot include a secret AniMoot component in the basement?Sure does! If all goes well, we'll have the 27" LCD in the basement TV room, which will be for Anime and video gaming. If the new family room is all done, there will be a larger LCD there for the benefit of more aged eyes. ;o)

He's not just Sort-of-Cute...which means I'll likely be struck dumb. *sigh* But I do wanna ask him abour ranges. He and another guy there were both discussing shooting last time, and I was curious, but not as much as I am now.
Well...just tried sending an e-mail to the organizing gal. Dunno how often she checks that. I guess if all else fails I just do a lot of being lost. And show up bearing something they already have too much of.

Good! You should go! I'll bet it'll be obvious, probably in the pavilions on the south side of the park.
Start a few minutes early, nobody will be surprised if you're there on time, early, or late.

Well, looking at your map, we'll need to have a Patriot Moot so's you can fill up the upper right hand corner of it! You could reach every one of those states within less than an hour's drive of my house! There's the seashore in ME, RI, and CT and the mountains in western MA, NH and VT!

New Hampshire is sooooo pretty this time of year.
*snif*
Not that it isn't pretty here, too. It is. Very. But New Hampshire is just about perfect from a terrain standpoint, IMO, at least the area near the White Mountains, which is really the only part I'm familiar with.

Now THOSE would be some pretty mountains, or what passes for mountains East of the Mississippi! Cost looks high, but think about it spread over the number of people who would attend.

Yeah, I saw that. Maybe we can plan our family vacation around RockyMountMoot! Paul won't be working next summer because he'll be studying for his Bar Exam, which is sometime in Sept, I think. David could get away most anytime if we gave him enough notice. Clare wouldn't be heading off for college until late August, and Joseph wouldn't be starting school until late Aug. or early Sept.
Maybe we can even drag SSQ's brother George along, then we wouldn't have to find a Catholic Church cause he could celebrate Mass for us right there! He usually says Mass every day, so that would work well!
