Does Anyone Remember This Old Ad for Cigarettes?
Posted on 05/26/2005 1:53:18 PM PDT by austen
I have a friend who is in his early 70s. More than once, he has mentioned an ad for cigarettes from his youth. Its slogan was something like "For the regular guy with an independent mind." Does anyone out there know what brand of cigarettes this ad was for? I would like to get my friend a copy of the ad. Thanks very much!

The only one I remember was Jed Clampett informing us that "Winston tastes good like a cigarette had oughta."

Am I the only one in the world that remembers a jingle that goes as follows: "Oh we love our Freakies cereal, darling you know we do. Cause its crunchy and delicious and its good for me and you. Oh I wonder, I wonder I wonder. Its the Freakies tree."

You can pick up old Jack Benny TV shows on DVD for about a dollar.
Included are the commercials.
Many are ciggarette commercials and the things they are saying to sell the cancer sticks would almost make you gasp...

Here is a link to the ad.
Firing up a smoke two feet away from an open carburetor bowl - now that's a real man.
