Hi, I am a long time reader of FR, and so yesterday I joined and made my first post because I wanted to get some links to hear streaming of Michael Savages show. I had an interesting first experience that should be reflected on.
First, I just wanted to say thanks to people who posted links On the other hand Im rather saddened by the fear and loathing that some of the other puerile posts showed toward Savage. While I dont agree with everything he says, I appreciate that he doesnt march in lock step with any political party. Its not just the same Bush says this or politics blah blah blah that gets old so fast. As Savage always has said which is just common sense, if someone is standing up for your values, it doesnt matter if he has an R or a D behind his name, or even if he is an eccentric radio host with narcissistic tendencies named Savage at least the person is on your side! Savage is one of the few people who I have ever heard consistently, courageously, passionately and unapologetically address the most pressing issue of MY generation, the total transformation of our culture and country from within Thanks Mike!! As a life time resident of the L.A. area and now an undergrad at UCSB I am constantly inundated by insane liberalism and Savage is the only thing that keeps me sane (well, beside runs on the beach and weekends in Isla Vista, but thats a whole other story)
Also, I respect his prowess in other fields besides politics. As Weiner, Savage wrote many high-quality books about nutrition. They are hard to get a hold of, but luckily through loans with other UC campuses I have read some of them. I would recommend them to anyone interested in healthy living.
Mike is truly a creative, cultured and brilliant man, and it shows on his radio show, as he touches on sooo many topics, like literature, health, history, etc. Too bad if you cant or dont see that. Thats all I wanted to say! Any other links to Savages show running anytime BESIDES 6-9 pm PST (which is 9-12 EST) would still be appreciated. Thanks! it's cool to finally be a part of FR...I hope it doesn't get too crazy :)
The people who condemn Savage are the ones in denial about our open borders and a federal budget that is out of control!
Something interesting breakinh here.
Welcome to FR..We discuss and differ...
I am posting these helpful hints and guidelines from the mods and posters to help you along.

FR is not exactly for the timid. If you've really been lurking here for that long, then you would know that. You'll be continually disappointed if you expect folks here to have the same views as you do.
If it was up to him we would all be walking around looking like liberals dour and downcast.
Don't need doom sayers.
Savage is like one of those guys you see at the bus station - drooling, clutching his knees, nodding back and forth, swatting at imaginary animals, shouting obscenities, etc. Frankly, I'm not sure how the guy ever managed to chew through the leather straps. But whatever. Welcome.
I agree that he is in the punch bowl.
However, I occaisonally listen to him, because he does say things that need to be said.
He was way in front on the illegal issue, before Rush.
He is also right to a degree on muslim fanatics, though it would be better if we followed Bush's policy understanding that there are elements that would take us out.....
I don't listen to him, or any talk radio for that matter. That being said, with the rising popularity of FR, you get a lot of differing opinions and people make no bones about expressing them. You should never be surprised by the "feedback" you receive around here. By new and older members alike. Usually, if someone agrees with you, they won't post.
Oh, come on! You beat me by like 2 posts. We almost said the same thing.
Welcome to Free Republic.
Sometimes Savage impresses me with good stuff. And then I think his name fits him.
Have some newbie pointers while we're at it:
_______________
New User Rules of Thumb
This is actually a quite friendly place once you realize some basic rules of thumb:
Don't post duplicate threads
Don't use this as an advertising place
Don't expect it to be a debating society, cause it's not.
Don't post and run. This gets more people marked as trolls than anything.
Don't use it as a place to do your homework.
Don't post in the wrong area.
When in doubt, use your spell checker.
Use the preview function to make sure your paragraphs are there.
Be respectful of the fact that many people who post here love guns, God, and the Constitution.
Viking kitties can be your friends.
Best way to get a feel for it is to get involved with discussions on threads and read a lot of what is being posted.
It's really not necessary to lurk for 6 months, rumour to the countrary!
Special vocabulary:
Zot - when the moderators declare a troll has posted, and the game of pile up on the thread takes place. Frequently symbolized by a lightning strike or an atomic explosion.
Viking Kitties - the ones who do the zotting for the mods! (a great game!)
BTTT - back to the top - when you want to bump a post back up, usually because you don't have the time to read it, but want it on your "My Comments" section.
Hugh - inhouse joke for huge
very series - inhouse joke for very serious
all your base are belong to us (I suggest you google that one. Great fun!)
Stuned - inhouse joke. Stunned, usually used in a humourous or sarcastic way, usually by a "beeber like device"
And finally:
DO NOT EVER POST A WHOLE MESSAGE IN ALL CAPS.
Remember, paragraphs are your friends.
Beware the spelling and grammar nazis. Good content will keep them at bay some times, but not always.
You left out the "Cosmology of the Meatball" diatribe.
denial..isn't that in Egypt.
VANITIES are bad --
Boring, whining, name-calling
ones are the worst kind.
