Read my tag line for my view.
I don't blame you for going. Lucas is an outstanding pioneer in moviemaking. And there's never enough imagination in movie-making. But I choose not to go-- just my personal decision. FRegards....
Let us not forget Newt Gunray in the last movie......suttle.
No problem. Whenever the young Korean chick comes around my jobm, I'll just get the bootleg. I live to subvert the profit stream of people I don't like. Not very christian but oh well :-)
Whenever Lucas gives an interview I notice that strange wad of flesh about his thoat--it's like he's storing a winter's worth of food right under his chin.
Same here. LOL!
Many people have assumed, in the past, that Lucas is Conservative because the basic themes in his stories, starting with F-451 and through the entire StarWars series are strongly Conservative-themed.
The drivel he spouts in interviews are far less influential and meaningful than the themes that are expressed in the stories. Whether he realizes it or not, Lucas' movies are Conservative.
Lucas just had to bollox it all up with politics.
The best you can hope for is to prick his vanity a little. Take it from someone who's seen at close range--celebity brings on dementia. The human soul cannot tolerate a lot of attention without being corrupted--and I'm starting to believe there are no exceptions.
So--the actual movie box office is not as important as the residual licenses. And Lucas is LAZY--compare him to Peter Jackson in productivity. This is his last hurrah. I doubt you can even poke his ego--
Speaking of Lucas and Jackson--Star Wars seems really lame now that we have Lord of the Rings. That's what Lucas was imitating, anyway...and even Lucas knows the difference between a shallow fake and the genuine article.
When it comes to popular entertainment...I hate to see conservatives do themselves out of an evening's pleasure. We work awfully hard, though I know that being insulted by our "court jesters" grows wearisome.
Just don't buy the Happy Meal...
Dude, you might as well skip 99.99999% of the movies that come out of Hollywood.
That's Mcdonalds. Burger King is the fast food tie in this go round. If one is going to boycott you need to keep the licensees straight. No M&Ms or Pepsi for sure. :)
You said it, brother.
Having been a SW fan since I was 9 years old, I was willing to forgive the clunkers that were Eps. I & II. But if GL is going to even indirectly compare our President to an evil emperor, he can forget my support.
Great, now I need a new screen name.
What Lucas said wrt Iraq/Vietnam is nowhere close to the truth but I don't care. Star Wars movies are just a collection of crap. Terrible acting, ridiculous story line, absurd weaponry. I stumbled onto one the other day and watched awhile and was dumbstruck at just how bad they are.
Most overrated movies EVER.
Was looking forward to it, but I don't think I'll be going. This does hurt, but Lucas is more than an idiot, he is a liberal, and they are dangerous
Were you looking for a reason to jump on George less than a week before Episode III opens?
I find the timing of this entry curious.....
There is nothing new in the world of history, and parallels can be drawn many ways. These idiots choose to believe and buy into this because they can make it fit their "Bush is a nazi" worldview, so what. If the only mental tool you have is a hammer, of course you want everything to be a nail to preserve your pseudo-intellectual status.
" but being a patriot doesnt mean blindly cramming your nose up the current leaders arse and blindly, unquestioningly following where they lead just because they claim to be a conservative (yet rarely exhibit evidence of this in action)."
Tell that to many blind Bush bots here....
I agree and look forward to seeing this movie.
But he does have a point here. Our Vietnam troops were heroes, trying to bring peace to the world and saving people of that country from being tortured to death, and so are our active duty troops now- just a different government in a different country.
Yup -I see the parallel.
No need to boycott for me. The first prequel was bad enough to keep me away from the theatre for any more pain.
Yeah, Episode 1 was pretty bad as well. But the excitement of seeing another Star Wars movie was enough to get me most of the way through that one before I realized that there wasn't much to the movie, and that the special effects were mostly a cover-up for the bad acting.
Episode 2 had a good deal of bad acting, and nothing to excite. Hubby and I were literally sitting in the theater, asking each other when we thought the movie would end. I still remember how, as we walked out, I commented that I was angry at myself for wasting $20 on tickets and overpriced sodas at a time that our finances were so tight.
You couldn't pay me to watch Episode 3. Even if it didn't have a bunch of digs by a gazillionaire limosine liberal at President Bush and conservatism in general.
