I am a US citizen & my British husband is a lawful, DOCUMENTED, permanent resident (he has to wait another 17 months before he can become a citizen). We want to buy a handgun, for personal safety in our home. Does anyone know; would the fact that he is not yet a citizen effect us getting a gun?
I have a CRAZY relative (brother), who has sworn to kill me (he attacked me at Christmas, breaking 2 of my fingers, giving me a fat lip & black eye - yet, believe it or not, when Police arrived, I WAS ARRESTED, apparently because I was crying & upset - he DEMANDED the DA take me to trail, but thank God a jury of my peers saw the injustice & aquitted me of all charges).
He was really pissed that I was aquitted & has now (5 months later) gone so far as to say, to a friend, that he could get to me, in my home, 1 late night & strangle me to death, long before the police could arrive to help me (we live in the country & my husband works nights every 2 months - which he knows).
The Judge that presided over my case, was outraged that the DA further victimised me & that I was the real VICTIM. She also knew that [he] is a very serious risk to me, so she asked me after the verdict was read, if I wanted her to issue a restraining order to protect myself, which of course I did/do (this I am told is VERY unusual for a presiding Judge to ask me if I wanted RO) - but I know that this piece of paper will not stop him from killing me, if & when he should decide to.
[His] recent comments (2 weeks ago) about breaking in to my house & strangling me, has now convinced me that I MUST take some steps to protect myself & my family (I have a 1 yr old, 3 yr old & 5 yr old), but I know nothing of guns & I have no idea where to go to find out. I want to be able to trust the sources in which I get the informtion, because I am such a novice.
I love & trust this website & forum, so I thought that my fellow Republicans could help me. I am really scared. He is HUGE (outwieghs me by 250 pounds), he was in the Marines for 2 years in the 80's (although he was asked to leave, or be thrown out for pulling a gun on a Master SGT).
I have ordered pepper spray (for BEAR, because he is the size of a bear) to use for protection, until I am able to get some information about buying a gun and make a purchase.
I live in Washington State - PLEASE HELP ME, I don't know where else to turn.
Smells funny. Since any law enforcement person could have answered her questions or even that helpful judge.
It's in the article.
It's strange, but I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt this time.
I smell ozone.
and the profile has something every DU'er thinks a freeper would have in their profile...
Consider moving...
Or google, for that matter.
No, I can't do a simple web search. I think I'll sign up on a conservative discussion forum, fill out my profile page, and compose my first post to ask about firearms laws - complete with a dramatic story.
Yep, hate to be a cynical person, but something smells funny here.
Hmmmmmmm... I noticed that too.. Talking points down.
You are right. First time I checked, It didn't have a profile. Seems that It couldn't wait to complete a profile before posting.
I smell a clumsy (sophisticated by DU standards) attempt to infiltrate.
Uh huh...
I would suggest a .357 revolver. Revolvers are ten times simpler to learn to use effectively than self-loading pistols. You can also fire light and inexpensive .38 caliber reloads (purchased at your local range) for training. Get a revolver, and you will be ready to defend yourself from day one.
Hey rosey, cat got your tounge, how come no response to anyone, HMMMMM?????
How did you know it was for BEAR? Did it have a picture of a BEAR on the can?
Is it just me, or does her/his profile sound......rehearsed or something. It doesn't feel right somehow. It's like they lurked and took notes or something.
A permanent resident with a clean legal record should be able to purchase a handgun from a federally licensed dealer with no problems. There are places on the on the 4473 form that you check if you are a non-citizen resident and spaces for your immigration info.
Or you could just purchase the weapon for yourself as a US Citizen. It wouldn't hurt to ask the dealer to help you when filling out the papers, they're out to make a sale after all.
I agree with Travis - a revolver is mechanically simpler and more reliable than a semiautomatic pistol of the same design and manufacturing quality.
Troll.
i sense something out of place also , but maybe my senses are off and i posted advice
It must be horrific to have someone you once loved be so beastly and menacing towards you.
