I am a US citizen & my British husband is a lawful, DOCUMENTED, permanent resident (he has to wait another 17 months before he can become a citizen). We want to buy a handgun, for personal safety in our home. Does anyone know; would the fact that he is not yet a citizen effect us getting a gun?
I have a CRAZY relative (brother), who has sworn to kill me (he attacked me at Christmas, breaking 2 of my fingers, giving me a fat lip & black eye - yet, believe it or not, when Police arrived, I WAS ARRESTED, apparently because I was crying & upset - he DEMANDED the DA take me to trail, but thank God a jury of my peers saw the injustice & aquitted me of all charges).
He was really pissed that I was aquitted & has now (5 months later) gone so far as to say, to a friend, that he could get to me, in my home, 1 late night & strangle me to death, long before the police could arrive to help me (we live in the country & my husband works nights every 2 months - which he knows).
The Judge that presided over my case, was outraged that the DA further victimised me & that I was the real VICTIM. She also knew that [he] is a very serious risk to me, so she asked me after the verdict was read, if I wanted her to issue a restraining order to protect myself, which of course I did/do (this I am told is VERY unusual for a presiding Judge to ask me if I wanted RO) - but I know that this piece of paper will not stop him from killing me, if & when he should decide to.
[His] recent comments (2 weeks ago) about breaking in to my house & strangling me, has now convinced me that I MUST take some steps to protect myself & my family (I have a 1 yr old, 3 yr old & 5 yr old), but I know nothing of guns & I have no idea where to go to find out. I want to be able to trust the sources in which I get the informtion, because I am such a novice.
I love & trust this website & forum, so I thought that my fellow Republicans could help me. I am really scared. He is HUGE (outwieghs me by 250 pounds), he was in the Marines for 2 years in the 80's (although he was asked to leave, or be thrown out for pulling a gun on a Master SGT).
I have ordered pepper spray (for BEAR, because he is the size of a bear) to use for protection, until I am able to get some information about buying a gun and make a purchase.
I live in Washington State - PLEASE HELP ME, I don't know where else to turn.
This is true.
or maybe at least posted something beyond the first post of the thread.
She might be... for our purposes, it doesn't matter. The issues she raises are good ones.
One thing that no one has brought up is... Shooting someone you know or a relative, even in self-defense, is really really messy legally and emotionally. She'd have to say she'd be willing to kill him, and be arrested and face another trial, and lose her family, before she should ever load a gun.
Why isn't her hubby protecting her and her kids? I know mine would do.

Do you happen to remember where that occurred?
Contact the neighbors, ask them to be alert for anything strange.
Getting a gun is fine, but be sure to take classes on using it.
Also, this is very important; get training on the laws for self defense in your state. If the worst happens, no sense in you going to jail because you didn't know what to do, during the attack, or what to say, after the attack.
My instructor, a former police chief, says to say nothing other than your name and address, and tell them you will be happy to answer any questions they may have, with your lawyer present. Then shut up until your lawyer is present.
This probably won't make the police too happy, and it may cause you to spend a few days in jail, but that's better than saying the wrong thing and having a gun hating DA trying to put you in jail for several years.
Some gun training classes cover this information, if you can't find one talk to a lawyer.
'She' will likley not have to worry about anything you mentioned, since this all seems to be made up.
She had time to fill out her profile page with all the stereotypical freeper hotbuttons, but for some reason can't seem to find the time to respond to her own thread.
Something is rotten in washington. And it's not just the governor's race.
I had a few posts today on a thread titled A family's sea change [no CAPS] some times its GOOD to be ARMED!!!
That picture is SOOOO cute!
Speedy trial--it hasn't been five months since Christmas.
'She' doesn't matter, for purposes of discussion. You guys are missing an opportunity to just discuss the issues, and are instead much more interested in this very tired Zot Mania.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.......... calls recorded and all, that dispatcher would've KNOWN they'd be in big trouble... 911 dispatchers are one of the most underappreciated servants in emergency services.
Want to know why this all smells to high heaven, you likely troll who is just sittng back enjoying all the responses?
The fact is if you were in fear for your life, you could have simply opened the yellow pages, looked under 'gun stores', made a call, and had a complete answer in a matter of minutes.
Yep, this one smells alright.
Good catch!
Great pic! It was worth getting trolled to see it.
she's talking about British christmas maybe, isn't that December 15?
well her brother weights 250lbs more than she does, but her husband weighs 250 lbs LESS than she does...
ya get the feelin' she was imbibing adult beverages while posting her first post??
