If you are 15, then I'm sorry for sounding harsh. I've got a 15 yr old and he uses similar "speak" on AOL/AIM with me, so I CAN relate.

Meek...I perused his postings, and I don't think he's a troll anymore.

F22 - stay around, and keep posting. Don't let grouchy people run you off. :-)

I might get blasted for saying this...so I'll choose my words carefully....

BUT.... because of the very nature of the culture on FR, a slightly older crowd is attracted to it. This is a GOOD thing indeed! However, I'm 41 and I know from rubbing elbows with others 10 years older than me that a good many older people don't "plug in" to the net culture.

I assisted migrating the old 26 net over to MILNET when it was still ARPANET, and instead of DNS we were using /etc/hosts and distributing the thing twice a day! I watched "archie" come and go....gopher came and went. FTP has been replaced by anonymous scp, sftp, and, cvs.

From what I've seen....although a good many people ten years older (and older!) than me embrace the technology and learn to use it well enough, the cut off for the embrace of the culture seems to be about 34 as best I can tell. That's not a "set" age, but rather a general number.

It's sort of like the gaming culture and being in an ET clan, or Halo. :-) Have you ever tried to explain something like THAT to your Mom or Dad? :-)

I'm only saying this so that you won't get angry on account of people who just don't understand, and so maybe people will go a little easier on you.

But this CAN be a rough place. GET some "thick skin" and don't run off.

Hey Squantos....Please help a young man out....I "think" it was you who pointed me to some FANTASTIC 2nd Amendment sites once. I'm trying to remember now...somebody had a list of top reasons why gun control was a leftist lie...

ARG! I hate not being to remember where I get things like that!

F22 - I'll look for the list. I think I gave it to one of my kids, so I'll ask him.

All my guns have killed less people than Ted Kennedy's car.

I believe in the right to bear arms because:

It's a Constitutional right
Keeps the government in check.
Reduces crime.
Self defense.
Sport / Hunting
Good for the economy (about 1,000,000 jobs related to the gun industry in America)

Well the second amendment is a good starting place but the roots of armed free citizenry go very into history.

In London under it's charter was mandatory for the Free Men of the City to own weapons so they could defend the city.

Among the Anglo-Saxon's when a slave was freed he was given a sword.

So through out history there is a common thread that free people are armed. There is also a common thread that slaves were dis-armed.

Now let us proceed to the matter of guns. Guns are the great equalizer in any conflict. They require little skill and almost no strength to use. That means that the physically weak are equal to the strong. No longer does the guy with the biggest club make the rules. A gun gives to the weak the ability to defend themselves at a moments notice.

Now we come to the matter of gun control. As the right to defend myself is a basic freedom recognized through out history as the right of any free individual then what right does anyone have to deprive me or control that freedom?

Some make the claim that to register is not to control or deprive yet when they are asked what purpose does it serve they can not come up with a good reason.

Control, registration is aimed at turning certain people into victims by depriving them of their right to defend themselves.

The question is not why are we against gun control but why would anyone be for it?
