Perhaps some of you would like to wish him well.

Now how am I to build my English/American dictionary with Ivan gone?
Lord yes. The StormFront invasion was the worst. They decided to educate us about the joos and "negroes". Jim was the only mod back then. He had his hands full.
Ok, so, who's the Birt basher? NAMES NAMES NAMES please.
I don't think there are any more than normal. I think they just feel empowered.
I listen to talk radio frequently and the words I've always had trouble with are "stand on the courage or your convictions", compromise is giving in, stick to your standards, never give an inch, there are absolutes to every issue".
That talk has empowered those who have strong convictions or absolute positions. Sometimes it is wise not to give in. Other times its good to listen to what appears to be the opposition to learn. If it's correct, then adapt it, if it's not reject it.
But as you've pointed out, absolutes make for flame wars.
Actually it was from a different thread after 547 posts asking him to stay
In the time it took me to write a reply, you just better rehashed the situation than I.
What has especially amused me is the Minutemen project. The actual movers and shakers of the movement were posting or had surrogates posting their PR on FR before the event. They were almost all banned. Then, MSM reports with interviews with them, and the Minutemen Projects PR releases, were all of a sudden completely welcome on FR during the event.
I understand the other forces trying to infiltrate FR using the Minutemen as a Trojan horse, but you got to wonder where that leaves ANY type of online forum discussion on the topic.
Mad Ivan, don't go! We depend on you for those late evening reports on what is going on in that quirky island-nation across the sea.
The clearly explain your premise.
Is writing a farewell opus then coming back after umpteen posts, the FR equivalent of hopping a Greyhound for a few days then turning up in Albequerque?
I'm typing a too slow today to keep up. Yes Storm Front was all over FR in the beginning. And again, through a heads up by a Freeper, there was links to Storm Fronts direct appeal to their forum posters to infiltrate FR during the build up to the Minutemen Project.
Let me put it this way, how often does Bilderberger, Trilateralist, Jewish Conspiracy, etc get posted on FR anymore? It's now rare, once was 5% or so of the traffic.
Regardless, glad we'll be seeing MadIvan around.
I've stated it at other times and so have others. I am on record as hoping the forum gets back on track. It's not about me or whether I've been flamed (as you seemed to think in another post). It's about FR being a credible site and right now it is not and I would not refer anyone here at this time.
And we now have a group of people who are were used to zinging and gnashing ,and slinging serious mud around with impunity as a group activity for kicks and grins- being on the other side of the "debate" for once. AND getting a taste of their own medicine.
....and they are going make sure all heck breaks loose for the rest of us.
"They" are part of the big problem, "they" have helped lay the foundation to the current atmosphere here, and I have zero sympathy for them right now.
We are talking about a group of people who have organized elaborate methods to get their way and to mock and try to destroy other posters here whom they , as a group, disagreed with- and that went on for a long time.
Let them ride it out like the rest of us have had to do... look the other way- when they are getting flamed or attacked by a group- as the rest of us have had to do- or just GO - just like they chased so many away from here themselves.
I don't think you have to know the Bible to know it is the truth: One will reap what one has sown.
I could care less one way or the other anymore.
(And no, I am not referring to Mad Ivan- whom I have always respected.)
Metrofreepers?
I've been burned by references to FR in the past.

Well, I have no problems getting along an an internet message board.
And yes, one certainly can read a tone into messages and here's the one you made that I noted:
OH!
In order to complain about people always bring "it up" one must constantly be the first one to bring "it" up?
Oh-OK.... (*snicker*)
I never recommend political forums to anyone. They all run like this except for the really boring ones.
"There are several technical difficulties inherent in our efforts to transform face to face into online formats, across Internet-facilitated boundaries and modalities"..that being lack of interpersonal communication information.
So now you have a reason spend less time online lecturing people. You have a book to write or a seminar to lead...no?
It was tolerated, maybe even encourged because all those who used that as a backbone were anti-Clintonites. Once the 2000 election was over, what remained of those types after the Keyes and Buchanan wars were no longer needed and were hastened away.
cyn: Your definition of credible differs from anothers definition of credible. As I have stated a number of times, the forum should allow all people interested to post. If their post is racist, then the mods should have a shortcut created that discredits the post as not being the philosophy of the forum. If the post is vulgar, then the mods should have the ability to nuke the word or phrase, but not the intent of the post. Otherwise, in my world, it would all stand. The problem is the trolls love to be fed and the forum folks love to feed them. Stop feeding them and they will die and go away. Continue to feed them and they will flourish.
