Various News Sources and FReepers | May 5, 2005 | All of Us

Posted on 05/05/2005 4:13:56 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Today is election day in Britain.

Tax receipts have exceeded US Treasury projections for the quarter--some debt will be paid down.

The prosecution has rested in the Michael Jackson case.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

We still use a push mower in our neck of the woods...

They're happy. Last year we got one with a motor.

"...some men are not only mean and stupid, but quite deceptive also."

Some are possibly just naive. I mean right?

It could be so.

Well that too, but in this particular case? Nope. No way, Jose.

We had a push mower some years back. I liked it better, not nearly as noisy.

It's happened before and it's happening again. So many people refuse to believe we can increase revenue by slicing taxes. It always warms my heart (and reinforces my arguments) when we see this happen.

Tis true; however, and not to pour too much cold water on this, these data are not seasonally adjusted.

Receipts are up because...

...the data set includes the runup to April 15.

What I am always focused on is receipts for the 4th quarter--this is the only quarter that doesn't include the warping of the tax deadline and seasonal variations from estimated tax payers responding to Christmas.

But my question is, are their better 'truth serums" than sodium pentathol?

Let's start with what sodium pentathol is and is not.

Recalling from my DoD days...

SP is not "truth serum", though folks have often taken to calling it such. SP is a mild sedative and anesthetic which, if given in a sufficient dose, will affect the cognitive functions of the brain, particularly the area dealing with reason. It's effects are not unlike alcohol, but the effort to reach the same point is much lower (you would have to drink several beers, glasses of wine, or shots of liquor to have the same effect on the brain as a shot of SP).

This leads to the two problems associated with SP. As you are doubtless aware, there are people whom you can get totally smashed and won't let lose with any kind of information. This is also true of SP; it cannot make someone talk who is not already predisposed to do so on some lower level of conscious thought--it can only breakdown their will. If the threshold point of getting the information is lower than consciousness, you don't get it.

The second problem is the quality of the information. Just as with a drunk, the ability to reason is shot, and thus the ability to separate bits of fact from other bits of facts from stuff the brain just thought up. It's sort of like (crude analogy) dumping all the bits on your hard drive and then trying to deduce the information from it without a catalog (which we normally have as the directory and file structure). What comes out could be total fiction, mostly fiction, half and half, mostly truth, or all truth. The stuff has to be corrobated--it will be, at best, a lead.

I'm not sure whether there are other substances used by the CIA/NSA/DoD types; I would hazard the guess they probably would also be "reason center attackers" like SP.

THIS IS ASTONISHINGLY BAD AND A COMPLETE MORAL BREAKDOWN IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE...

...RESEARCHERS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CREATE HUMAN EGGS FROM OVARIAN STEM CELLS, WHICH, WHEN COMBINED WITH SPERM USING IN VITRO FERTILIZATION TECHNIQUES, CAN PROVIDE A VIRTUALLY LIMITLESS NUMBER OF "FARMED" HUMAN EMBRYOS FOR STEM CELL RESEARCH!

Yes what you say makes a lot of sense. I did not have anywhere near your knoweldge on the subject. After reading your post I would bet that we have spent some funds and efforts trying to find such a drug, but like you I now have some doubts that it exists.

I also don't think torture works. A person will do almost anything to avoid pain... including telling an interrogator what ever the subject hopes will stop the torture.

Our FBI, CIA, and Military Intelligence people know what they are doing. I also expect they are pretty closed mouthed. I know that the media tends to draw their own conclusion when all they actually got from a government agent was a no comment or thirty seconds of plain ole gibberish.

The old tried and true technique of putting subjects where they can have communication with a stool pidgin, and gentle interrogation by sharp questioners are what I think are the two best methods of getting information.

My Dad did a lot of questioning of criminal suspects. Dad claimed it was important for the questioner to be non threatening. Dad always wanted the subject to conclude that the subject was a lot smarter than his questioner. Dad also believed in a one on one sessions. Dad said people rarely screw up when the pressure is on. They do screw up when the pressure is off and they feel certain they have the questioner conned.

Dad would often reveal some of what he knew. From what Dad said it would be likely that a lying subject would then create a scenario A. Dad would hold back the piece of info that prevented scenario A from being the truth.

Dad believed that a suspect has to be rested, awake, and confident of his ability to fool the interrogator. The important thing was to get the subject to talk and not let him know that the questioner was on to him.. ONce a questioner has a very good idea of what is the truth the trap can be sprung.

Dad used to say if you can get a subject to talk, they will tell enough lies so the truth can be discerned
