AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 1564) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | May 2, 2005 | All of Us

Posted on 05/03/2005 4:31:41 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Vice President Cheney stated yesterday that Al Qa'eda had been hurt since the 9/11 attacks, but was still actively recruiting members to perpretrate attacks on the American homeland.

The search continues for the pilots of two planes lost over Iraq. It is believed the planes collided during operations in bad weather.

In Pittsburgh yesterday, police arrested a deaf-mute man for shooting his deaf-mute sister and his deaf-mute brother-in-law for attempting to move his deaf-mute parents.

And the media did finally get around to commenting on Laura Bush's performance before the National Press Club. The headline of the op-ed piece in the NY Times went thus: LAURA BUSH TALKS DIRTY. The content of the article lived up to the billing--a total hit piece.

The leftstream media cannot buy a clue to find a clue as to how to get it. They are hopeless.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I'm not so scary.
Though I do get blamed for odd weather, appliances gone bad, and strange astronomical events.
*scratches chin*

Now that the winter weather has abated some, I need to head out your way for a coffee.

Okay, if you're within 'Coffee Distance' of Nita, I suggest you book a flight and get out here to help me clean up this frost damage.;>)

Have a good one!

YUG, gas prices look to be staying about the same.
Hovering around $2.09/2.10 for 87 octane.

Nancy's Coffee Shop has apparently closed, at least it was wallboarded up last time I was there two weeks or so ago.
The tax rise is beginning to hurt the mall, the local municipality seems to think that raising the taxes won't hurt the place any.
(Remind you of what happened to Orange Plaza?)

If the coffee shop is merely remodeling, I didn't hear a peep about it.
I probably will be eading out that way to find out soon, maybe, if things go as planned.
*chuckle*

Gotta tell you about my mom's trip to Florida, and her luggage.

Owch.

Yeah, we're roughly 38 miles apart.
We keep crossing paths, but never run into each other for some odd reason.

It appears that my rose bush has not survived this winter.
But, it may still be too early to tell for certain.

Right. And yet, the world's largest reinsurer is convinced that climate change is resulting in an increased frequency of storms originating in the North Atlantic.

The National Hurricane Center (care to challenge them?) data shows ZERO fluctuation over the 105 years.

US Hurricane Strikes by Decade

Note in particular that strike frequencies have decreased since the maxima of 1910-1919 and 1930-1959.

I would offer, and you can check with the folks around here, that you are well cautioned if we tangle in the meteorlogical world--I hold the 9th-degree black belt there.

While it is a hobby, and I don't therefore have the letters to go after my name, I would venture to say there is little I have not read or digested about the subject and can discuss with the best. I even diagnosed the Lili decay phenomenon before the NHC types got it done. So, you ain't gonna get anywhere there, trust me on that.

But, don't take my word for it:

U.S. Landfalling Hurricanes - increasing with 'global warming'? analyzes that same data.

The scientists who don't agree with global warming?

I started to hit the abuse button when that clown suggested we should commit ritual suicide when proven wrong, but then I figured, "Nah!". Dog and Jane haven't really had a chance to join in the fun. ;^)

Okay, back to what I babbled about on 'Mom's luggage and her trip to Florida.'
My grandmother had to be moved, details unimportant other than to say 'senile dementia componded by mental disorder', and my mom had to go down to Florida to help with moving grandma.

Well, mom asked me to paint something on her luggage.
As I'd painted two suitcases before, mom figured it would be cool to have personalised custom luggage.

Apparently, the TSA feels threatened by personalised custom luggage, and felt they had to scrape at the paint to see if there was something wacky about it, and they searched the luggage to see if there was anything hidden inside it.
After all, a red suitcase with a sailing sloop painted on it may be a hidden message.
*snort*

Well, mom called from Florida to tell me the events that transpired on the way down.
So far so good.
Then mom is on her flight home.

They search the suitcase again, scrape at the paint again, and leave the customary 'We have seached your luggage' note inside the suitcase.

*chuckle*

Mind you, I would have acted the same way upon finding a suitcase with a painting on it, but it still seems surreal despite me knowing how I'd react to painted luggage.

The damage to the paint job isn't all that bad, they only shaved off small slivers of paint.
If they even bothered to send it to a lab, they're probably dissapointed that it's only Cadmium Deep Red Hue acrylic paint and unbleached titanium white acrylic.
(The two colors that got scraped.)

Hello, there! I am not participating much today, as I am babysitting. Thank you for taking on the troll.

If global warming is a sure thing, why Am I FREEZING? It hasn't even made it up to 50 yet, and I am in Indiana, and it is May!!

Welcome.
Some of the in thread regulars also took him to task.

If global warming were an actual fact, it wouldn't be chilly over much of the country at this point of the year.
Bascially, they look at retreating glaciers and wring their hands over it.
Nevermind that those glaciers have been retreating since the end of the last ice age.
Heck, they even advanced some because there was a mini ice age that froze the Vikings out of North America.

Heck, they even advanced some because there was a mini ice age that froze the Vikings out of North America.

And let's not forget the Carter Administration when, coupled with energy mismanagement, the United States experienced one of its coldest and, for the northeast, snowiest winters on record. The Kingston area of the Hudson Valley had places that were recording triple-digit season snowfalls, when the normal is 55"/yr. Snow as early as October and as late as May.

Fast forward. 2003. A total of 58.1" of snow falls at Dulles International Airport, including 40.5" in February. Both are records.

Put simply, the snow "engine" in the northeast requires a warm ocean and a cold continent. The greater the temperature difference between the two, the more snow falls (on average--situational variances can, of course, occur). If global warming is in play, both the continent and the ocean would, of course, warm. Water has a higher coefficient of heat absorbtion (takes more energy to heat a given unit of water) than soil, so it heats slower. The difference between the two--land and water--diminish, so the "engine" is snuffed out (sort of as like blowing out a candle). BTW - This explains why the worst nor'easters occur in a "knuckle" of air in front of and along intense ("cold") high pressure system advancing SE toward AL/GA.

On the other hand, if global temperatures are falling (and there's some satellite data to substantiate this), then the opposite is true. Water will hold heat longer than the continents, and the difference in temperatures in winter will be exacerbated. Worse storms will occur.

Now, in case our troll comes back, if the thermohaline issue comes to pass, water temperatures along the Atlantic coast of the United States would actually climb (yep, not what they're telling you, but it is what is for the reasons I explained earlier). The snow would rage in the United States (and over Greenland for that matter), returning the ice and restoring the balance. Isn't it amazing how nature seems to restore the balance? You'd think the eko-wackos would take time to analyze things.

Germany, for example, has committed to a 20% cut in CO2 emissions by 2010. I don't hear them whining that China isn't playing fair.

The German economy is in terrible shape. It has no real growth and its standard of living is falling. Again you fall into the "The're doing it .. so should we ... " argument. You insist on proving that you are a follower of those with a history producing failure thought bad judgements.

In the 1930s Germany and Italy both adopted National Socialism... You sound like the German American Bund who told us that the reason we needed our own Hitler was Germany already had one. Next you tell us to emulate France.. whose motto in the last century was surrender to the Germans now.. and avoid the rush later.

One personal experience comes to mind. In 1948 one of my relatives bought the Ormand Beach Hotel and Golf Course in Ormand Beach, Florida. In 1950 the same relative bought the house next door. That house was the Casements. It was the 69 room estate built by John D Rockefeller Jr. I did some research on the property which had been built well before the turn of the 20th century. I was surprised to learn that the Golf course had, when it was built, adjoined the ocean beach. It was now a fraction of a mile inland.

There are only three possibilities. Between the 1880s and 1950s the land had risen. It was also just as likely that between 1880 and 1950 the ocean had fallen. The third possibility was both had taken place.

One of the proofs of global warming is the level of the oceans are rising flooding land. By the same logic I have proof that between 1880 and 1950 the amount of Arctic ice must have been increasing because the level of the Atlantic Ocean fell and what had been ocean floor in 1880 was now developed land. That was true up and down the atlantic coast of Florida.

Does that mean during the period of industrial build up with zero pollution controls, the world was getting colder? It must. The huge steel mills, refineries, auto plants and paper mills were all built and polluting during that period. Yet during that period the level of the Atlantic ocean fell.

Apparently the creation of huge polluting factories all over the world resulted in global cooling. In fact when I was in college 50 years ago.. the big thing was the coming Ice Age. Many brilliant professors were teaching that Global Cooling was on the way. They claimed it was all being caused by terrible polluting humans.

When the data did not support a global cooling thesis, those that hate modern life created a new scenario. Their new cry was global warming. I have lived long enough to experience the switcheroo.

When Shakespeare was writing plays, when our constitution was being written, when man transitioned from the property of kings to owners of nations, the best medical minds knew that draining a pint of blood from a sick person would make them better. We now know that "bleeding people" contributed to many deaths.

We claim that our politicians are far less bright than Jefferson and Madison. At the same time we claim that todays scientists and doctors are far smarter than they were 200 years ago.

History says that many of todays so called experts are as wrong as those of 200 years ago who believed that bleeding people made them better. Todays respected experts are wrong.. but few know it.

Men insist that they are in control and have the power to destroy the earth. Such people are todays magic men.. They are Merlin's who believe in their version of the magic wand.

Oil was created by the trees and plants that were buried by earths eruptions. Those trees turned into oil under the pressure of earth and the lack of oxygen to allow complete oxidation. Those plants and trees would have decomposed and produced just as much CO2 as their oil does now if they had decomposed and not been buried in large eruptions on the earths surface. The CO2 we create by buring the oil they produced is equal to what those trees would have produced had they lived long enough to die and compose in the regular way.

When we will have burned all the Oil and coal under the earth, we will have only produced as much CO2 as if the earth had never erupted and buried those plants and trees under the surface of the earth.

If we built enough wind generators to effect weather patterns so that warm air traveling from the equator to the polls would be reduced, would that prevent global warming? If the warm air did not have the energy to travel all the way from the equator to the polls and warm them would that fix your problem?

Did you ever notice that the people who think man is capable of causing global warming, think he is only able to prevent it by not doing what causes the pollution.

I wonder if those same people think the only way to prevent pregnancy is for males and females not to have sex.

Usually with the typo of 'teh'.

Wish my car looked that good.
Unfortunately, it has oxidized paint, the clearcoat UV baked off and the paint is turning grey.
It's a black car.

I remember back in 1993, the northeast kept getting hit with noreasters every Wednesday.
Ended up with a snow pile out front that was as high as the top of the street signs.
Digging out the driveway had us sitting with a ten foot wide wall of snow six foot tall.

I don't know how deep the snow was all total, but the one snowfall dropped 24 inches of snow on us, and I had to shovel off the roof.

I cracked a joke about 'Global Warming' that evening.
Also around the same time I quit being and enviro.
