Throughout nearly all of 2003 and well into 2004, I would sit on a barstool for an hour almost every Sunday afternoon, nurse a pint, and enjoy a good conversation with the bartender, Jimmy. Not just any bartender--
my bartender. The perfect bartender, and I'm not kidding. Then he up and leaves me. Not for another bar, mind you--for another profession. The
bastard! I spent the latter half of 2004, nursing pints all through the tri-county area, in a desperate attempt to find a replacement for Jimmy. I gave up around Christmas.
sigh I really enjoy scrounging through junk shops, the junkier, the better. My kids like it as well, so I generally take one or two of them with me--occasionally all five of us will go.

Gardening! I've been building rock retaining walls, improving the soil, putting in a sprinkler system. All this took about two years. This year, I plant!

A pedicure while thumbing through the latest fashion/beauty mags. I usually don't make it through the mags though...I fall asleep!

Summer is finally coming to Cape Cod. The herring are running which means the stripped bass will be near the shore soon. Whenever the Missus and I have an afternoon off together we pack the truck with a cooler, grill, and fishing gear then drive onto the beach and do a whole lot of nothing. Nothing beats sitting on the beach in the sun with a beer in one hand and a smoke in the other.
My screen name is chapin as in Chapin beach and 2500 as in Chevy Silverado 2500.

I love to exercise as my indulgence. This summer I will be rejoining my master's swim group. I also like to run a lot. This seems to be the ONLY time I have to myself where I can let my mind wander. The only thing I don't like is the swimming is from 6-7:30 in the morning. My other big indulgence is going to the mall (this summer is exciting because I won't be buying maternity clothes, first time in awhile!), buying some new duds and sipping a coffee that I paid $5 for and it still doesn't taste as good as my home brew. I wish JK Rowlings would hurry up with the 6th installment, I read that she finished it right before Christmas, release it already! I love Harry Potter books and am thirsty for more!

I'd love a massage, facial and pedicure.
That, or a long weekend at a log cabin in the mountains with hubby.

I read every night before bed to relax. I also hand the baby over to daddy after church on Sundays to have some me time. For a few hours I sometimes get a pedicure, get a haircut, go shopping, or occasionally take a nap. It gives him bonding time he really doesn't get all that much of during the week.
I would love it if we could a family vacation. We are invited to a wedding in Canada in June but don't know if we can go or not yet...

Once in a while I buy King Crab Legs when they are on sale. A treat and an indulgence!
I dream of a week away from the business. A cabin in the woods, a stream or lake nearby filled with hungry fish. Alone with my husband. No phones, no internet, no nagging relatives ... bliss.

I've mentioned that we moved last year. Our old house did not have a tub in the master bathroom, just a small shower. There was a tub, but in the kids' bathroom. I never used it because it really wasn't relaxing being surrounded by kiddie fish decorations and toys.
The new house has the one thing I wanted, a big jacuzzi tub!!!! I love it! If I am stressed, I go light some candles and go soak in the tub. Sometimes hubby joins me, and sometimes it's just me!
I've learned that I really don't like the jacuzzi part (too noisy), and I don't like bubbles. I just like the bath to be hot and deep, and I like the bathing crystals that make the bath smell sooooo goood.
We don't have as much money to out with the new house, but we don't need to go out as much. I just make sure the kids are secure (either in bed or watching TV), and I go in the bathroom and close the doors. I can't hear the TV or the kids because the bathroom is far away from them.
If we ever move, one of the top priorities will be to have a soaking tub in my bathroom. It was a would like to have in this house, and it has turned into one of my favorite things about this house.

I am always so late posting to this thread. Our daughter has the chicken pox and its now snowing in Ohio! Go figure. My favorite indulgences are dying my hair a new color (Its now a much brighter red), gardening, and eating at some great steak and seafood place after a hard days work. But I also love to just indulge in my family. Watching my daughter play in my newly dug garden is always fun as well. God Bless! :)

I have an idea for next week. Can we talk about our summer plans?
It has been so rainy and cold all spring in N. California, and I need to be reminded that summer is on its way.
I want sunny, hot weather for weeks at a time. If we talk about summer, at least it won't be as dreadful as it has been around here.

I know. I'm tooting my baby's horn. I entered him in a baby hat contest: http://www.americanbaby.com/photocontest/vote.jhtml?entryId=869000008 .
As for indulgences. Probably my computer time. Yard saling. Books...
