Friday, April 22, 2005

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

SINISTER

Adj
Pronunciation: Sin/i/ster.

adjective: (heraldry) on or starting from the wearer's left
Example: "Bar sinister"
adjective: stemming from evil characteristics or forces; wicked or dishonorable
Example: "The scheme of some sinister intelligence bent on punishing him-Thomas Hardy"
adjective: threatening or foreshadowing evil or tragic developments
Example: "Sinister storm clouds"

The word "jazz" originally meant "sexual intercourse". The expression "rock 'n' roll" originally meant "sexual intercourse". (Anyone who thinks rock isn't about sex is lying and/or ignorant and/or stoopid and/or ugly and/or fat and/or stoopid and I seem to be in imminent danger of getting off topic, as usual). Yet blues seems to be a lot of bitching and moaning about no sexual intercourse. There's probably a lesson here, but I have to go to the bathroom.

By the way, I'd say they've gone nuts in Turin. It was a nice town, but not anymore, I guess.

Yes indeed-I need for the deer to keep eating the tastless soy products the humans buy on impulse and whose pets won't even eat them-that way they don't go to waste...

Hell, what was so great about 1960? Why not go totally old school and let's learn us some Aramaic? Have mass in caves and every once in a while have a parishioner thrown to the lions in some type of modified Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery. Will be more exciting than a bake sale….

cheezes of XS

Is that any relation to the new factory Kraft Foods is opening in Israel? The one they're going to call "Cheeses of Nazareth"?

Actually that was better. Going to the bathroom conjures up pix of someone sauntering to the mens room with newspaper folded under an arm.
