Friday, April 22, 2005

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

SINISTER

Adj
Pronunciation: Sin/i/ster.

adjective: (heraldry) on or starting from the wearer's left
Example: "Bar sinister"
adjective: stemming from evil characteristics or forces; wicked or dishonorable
Example: "The scheme of some sinister intelligence bent on punishing him-Thomas Hardy"
adjective: threatening or foreshadowing evil or tragic developments
Example: "Sinister storm clouds"

I'd gladly join you in any ercise but I can't afford the bus ticket to Alabama.

No, that's not quite true, exercise except for the "cheap physical stuff" is against my religion.

Well, I tell you my old woman left me
And my horse done left me too
Now here it is
A Saturday night
AND I AIN'T GOT NO ONE TO SCRE...well, you get the idea.

I was reminded of the discussion we had here about velveeta a few days ago this afternoon-I had stopped at the grocery store to get some charcoal and fresh asparagus for supper and they had this new brand of fat free soy cheese on sale really cheap in the health food section. I figured for that price I'd try it, so I bought a package of the swiss flavor. When I got home, I decided to taste it before foisting it on my unsuspecting husband in the form of a ham and "cheese" sandwich in the lunch I make for him during the week-it looked like swiss cheese, it smelled like swiss cheese, but it tasted like tofu with flavoring-I tried to feed some to Husky girl, but she wasn't fooled either-she spit it out on the kitchen floor and actually gagged. Maybe I can feed it to the deer...

Strangely, he was not cheered by my first effort at blues...

Don’t show me your tissue
There’s nothing there that I want to see.
Don’t show me your tissue
There’s nothing there that I want to see.

I’m your Mom and I believe you,
There’s green stuff in your nasal cavity.

Don’t want to see that mucus
You’ve coughed up and spit into the sink.
Don’t want to see no mucus,
That you’ve left on my pretty bathroom sink.

I tell you I believe you,
When you tell me it’s neon tinged with pink.

You’re a sick, boy, sonny
Just relax and stay home today from school.
I can see you’re sick, sonny.
And you’ll just die if I send you to school.

I’ll tell them your nose is runny,
And your upper lip is forming a pustule.

If mucous had value we'd be rich. But its not!

Good, maybe they'll do something about the annoying disruptor-troll who goes around here with the unlikely moniker "Jim Robinson"...

whoops...

The deer ate every crumb of the soy chips, crunching happily away-they don't seem to know the difference between soy stuff and the real thing.
