Bosses suck.
I just got the "official" Hurricane Preparedness Checklist from my manager. She's asking everyone to sign up to be on one of three teams: In-House, Emergency and Away.
In-House has to be ready to stay late as the hurricane approaches and come in as soon as it passes.
Away has to be prepared to fly to Georgia 12 hours before the hurricane makes landfall.
Emergency has to help the Away Team board up their house and check on its condition after the hurricane, speak to family members, etc.
I don't like any of these options. :P
I guess Emergency sounds best...but those options just stink!
Could you do away and offer to drive to Georgia, taking the kids with you? Then the Emergency people would board up your house....
Those options, excuse my language, sux0r.
Whew, just finished lifting and I'm all slimy. Gotta shower soon as I cool down.
Good grief. Do all companies do this?
I mean... I don't live where there are regular, predictable life threatening events, but I've never had a company have a policy about who has to come in first after an earthquake.
Good Lord! What a stupid list of options! But I agree...in house sounds best for you.
My dad just emailed me, asking if Steve could come get their freezer this Friday...you know they're giving me their big deep freeze? I said sure. And I asked if he could also get a bunch of my other stuff that I know is over there...like a wax doll from Viet Nam that my cousin brought back for me during the war.
I also asked if I was gonna get my cedar chest. My grandmother gave it to me and my mom has been "keeping" it for me. Every time I asked for it in the past, she always talked me into letting her keep it for safe-keeping.
Well, when my dad brought over a bunch of stuff a couple weeks ago, some of it was some of the stuff I kept in the cedar chest...all stuck in a plastic bag.
I've been very anxious about it...if I don't get the cedar chest, then I will have nothing from my grandmother. I had her wedding ring at one time but when I checked into the hospital to have Matthew, my mom took it for safe-keeping and I never got it back either. I don't hope to get it back.
I'm very anxious.
We've got our Tornado Preparedness Plan. It seems they frown upon rushing out into the parking lot to gawk at the tornado.
