The Hobbit Hole XXI - ...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I bought a carbon steel wok off the TV; it's called "The Great Wok of China". I can use it now on my gas stove cause it has a rounded bottom. When we build the new kitchen, I'll have an electric cooktop, and then will need a flat bottomed wok. David left his flat bottomed one here with me when he moved out to Austin, so I'm all set.

You just have to remember that with a carbon steel wok, you don't wash it with soap, you just use an abrasive pad or brush with the hottest water you can get out of your faucet, and you dry it immediately.

Heh...

Actually, part of the reason I can't go back to sleep once I wake up is that Halvah immediately starts yakking. She sleeps through the night, but if I roll over once, she's gotta start telling me about the fact that she can see the bottom of her bowl. Horrors!

So THAT'S what dwarves do when they get together.

Remember how impressed the check-out lady was with its heft when we bought it? Heh...

I should start keepin' it next to the bed to deal with would be invaders.

Or just to throw at cats that get up too early.

Check out the resale places; Goodwill, etc. Folks sometimes buy a wok, then find they don't want to bother with it. You could probably pick one up pretty cheaply.

The thing is, when I drink this wine, I don't feel any effects other than a relaxed feeling (which is pretty novel to me!) Then I go to bed and sleep soundly, much like I do when I take a Benadryl (which I do occasionally to help me sleep). However, the next morning, I do wake up bright and early and feel refreshed where as when I take a Benadryl, I feel sluggish and non-functioning in the morning!

I have learned though that if I already have a headache, drinking the wine, no matter how little, will make it worse. That's only happened once, though. I don't get headaches like I used to. I haven't needed a Morning Relief in about a year!

Never know when a tornado will come through. :)

But then, I probably wouldn't be able to find the jars.

I had martinis once in my life. They made me physically sick. Not drunk or anything, just couldn't hold them down for some reason. I had two. Never again!

But rum...Mmmm Mmm! I loved a good rum and coke! As a matter of fact, it was a rum and coke I was drinking when I decided drinking without Steve wasn't very fun. At Chuy's Restaurant in Austin Texas...where the Bush girl got in trouble, you know?

I just left that rum and coke sitting there half gone...and didn't have another drink till the Wild Turkey at Hair's house.

I'd be OK with waking up early if I woke up feeling awake!

Maybe Tension Tamer or cholesterol medicine or ale near bedtime would help...
