The Hobbit Hole XXI - ...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good, I bet wet horse doesn't smell too good.

Wet riders smell just like them, so it isn't so bad as long as everyone's been on trail the same length of time ;~D

Nice! It's so pretty there...so green. One of these days I really want to visit the area again when I don't have anything I HAVE to do...get to see more of the trails and the mountains and all!

Evening Hair - enjoyed the pics of the trail ride. Those old haul roads look perfect for trail riding. Fine looking equines and equestrians. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Great pictures. Sure looks like it was peaceful. What does Fatty Lumpkin do while y'all are out 'trailing'.

That's nice that the homeschooling group has an end of the year banquet!

Heh... we never had an end-of-year. No banquet either.

This is my first "summer off" ever. Working 20 hours a week is the least I've ever done - always had school, home or college classes, or worked lots. I'm counting this as payback for two summers ago when I had two jobs and no time.

Thanks about the pictures :~D

Pony had to stay here alone... I give her an herbal sedative to take some of the edge off so she doesn't panic at being left. Usually once we are out of sight and sound the left horses settle down ;~D It's been awhile now since they've been separated, and it gets easier the more we do it. Today, she was pretty happy when we got back.

Good night everyone!

Evenin'...er mornin' again...this is two late nights in a row for me.

Long, but good day. Did some work at the pool this a.m. Then wife played for a wedding (church friend) this afternoon. Since the weather today was 'bout near perfect after the reception went with some friends to a local cafe with outdoor seating. Polished off a couple of bottles of cholesterol medicine. Jr. wasn't happy with us since he babysat, but we explained that we never get to do that. Not sure the last time we ~ever~ did that. It was definitely pre-Nana, probably pre-Luke.

Wedding was nice. His second. Her third. I dunno, but when your grandson is old enough to be the ring bearer at your wedding, seems like you ought to simplify things a bit.

But maybe that's just me...

g'nite

I love that movie! ... and I think Vikings are underrepresented in movies these days.

Should I play in the dirt or paint the ceiling today?

Lawn is mowed....need more dirt for the raised bed(s)...could use some more bedding plants...

Guess I could always wash the car. That usually brings rain.

Well, weatherweenies are claiming change of thunderstorms most of next week. Go ahead and get the dirt AND the plants. Mothernature will wash the car.
