Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Agreed. The best acting he did was in the let's-be-evil scenes. Not so good with, you know, interacting with people.
Ewan McGregor was good.

Oh yeah, he was REAL good...I think he got the essence of Alec Guinness (sp) just right. You could almost imagine him someday being old Ben.
And it was McGregor that got Joshua to cry...he was very convincing! Just tore Joshua up.

My cedar chest. The black string in the top off to the right there is a string that held my grandmother's glasses around her neck.
Grandma died about 20 years ago.

Ewan McGregor is a very versatile actor. I've seen him now in several different parts and he hasn't been disappointing yet. I've seen him in Moulin Rouge, where he sings, rather well, I might add, Big Fish, A Life Less Ordinary, Brassed Off, Emma, Little Voice, and the Star Wars movies. I heard he was very good as a heroin addict in Trainspotting, but I haven't seen that one.

It's pretty! Bet it smells wonderful, too. I've always wanted a Lane chest...
Nothing it it, then? Except the string...which makes a precious keepsake.

Yep...got the freezer. It had a lot of food in it! (Some of it several years old!)
Alas, the chest was empty. I used to spend hours going through all that stuff...facinating stuff from long ago...it's why Grandma gave it to me...I enjoyed it so.
I got up at 3am this morning and sat and looked at it and cried.

We saw Collateral last night. It was an excellent movie! Tom Cruise was a great bad guy, and Jamie Foxx was terrific as the cab driver. I didn't know he was such a good actor. Now I want to see Ray. In the Director's Commentary, Michael Mann said that Jamie Foxx had been a musician to start with, then went into stand up comedy, where he honed his comic timing. I wonder if he played the piano and did the singing in Ray.

It's sad that the things are gone...but now you have the chance to start adding new things to it, for your own kids and grandkids!
Can't you just picture it in a bedroom at your farmhouse, where people can go through it when they visit...spread the contents out on the bed and look at them? It's lost part of it's past, but you can sure give it a future!

Here is a picture of Joshua "graduating" from Kindergarten with the rest of his class. These are the homeschoolers that go to our church. This was our end of school banquet, held in our youth center. The theme was "The Journey".Our children's minister gave out the certificates.
Here's Matthew, getting his certificate saying he finished 5th grade...

Nice pics of graduation.
Glad you have the chest, sorry it was missing some of the smiles inside.
Here's a pic from our trail ride today... it was so nice to have just ecurbh and me, alone in the whole woods, just by ourselves.

Got a great email through the Hobbit Hole blog today.
Dear Hobbit Hole,
We have received our knives. They are great. My squad carries them on every mission with pride. Thank you dont even come close to the graditude we have. It means so much my squad to have received one of your knives. Patrolling in the city, we find many uses for them.
Just remember there is a squad of 11B in Iraq that is very thankful for your service and will never forget you.
