The Hobbit Hole XXI - ...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I could use a little rain. Something to keep the dust down.

I'm sure you could! That's the thing about the desert ;~\

No shade for you either when it's hot, huh!

Well, you know how things are with my parents? They say one thing, get your hopes up (like with the dryer) and then renege on it? That's the way it was all my life, so I don't like to promise something and not follow through.

We went last night to look at the hard core folks...but they were already inside so we came home and watched them on the news...all three stations had some sort of theater coverage.

After the initial disappointment, Matthew got over it pretty well, though. For one thing, he had been miserable for most of the day with that sunburn and I think he was exhausted from that. So common sense prevailed.

I apologized profusely and that's not something that ever would have happened when I was growing up. I was really sincerely sorry and Matthew forgave me entirely. An amazing thing.

We're leaving in an hour and half.

Nope. No shade. But lots of pale soil that is highly reflective. You have to put sunscreen on your chin because of it. I've decided that burkas aren't such a bad idea if you burn like I do. :)

That's what I'm hearing too...but we're gonna take our chances. Matthew already read the book. I'm hoping (if it's too dark) Joshua won't get parts of it.

I have also heard that it's anti-Bush, which just thrills me no end. (/sarc) But I'm pretty sure even Matthew won't make the connection. All I gotta do is keep my mouth shut and let him enjoy his film! LOL!

From what I've read here, no one who sees it thinks it's anti Bush unless they are told to see it that way. They are mostly reacting to an interview Lucas gave where he talked of it being a warning to Bush about imperialism or something... Well.. that misses the point.

I suspect that it is not specifically anti-Bush. It is about an archetypical villian - just as episodes IV-VI are about an archetypical hero. But since Bush is an archetypical villian in the eyes of many Hollyweirdos the connection is quickly drawn.

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me, but I'm not too worried. I'm not a big fan of the movies, my son is and if he can enjoy it on a child-like level, that's good enough for me.

Well, I've got all my pings answered...I need to fix breakfast and wash my hair before we go!

I'll see you later!!

Have fun, 2J!

And any movie can be spun to make it sound anti-Bush if someone really wants to.

I've decided life is too short.

I do, however, try to avoid Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. :P

Gonna be over eighty here, which I don't think is right. Oh well, suppose I can lie about like a slug this afternoon.

You've broken the cycle. Good for you!

We're going to the 3:45 feature. We'll pick Joseph up when school is out at 2:30, he'll come home and change, then we'll go to the grocery store to buy some reasonably priced snacks before we head to the theater about 3pm. I hope they'll have a trailer for The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe! Did you know that WETA, the folks who did the Special Effects for the LOTR movies is doing the same job for this movie?

Has Matthew read "The Chronicles of Narnia", yet? Terrific series. Clare just re-read the LL&W, so she could be familiar with it again before the movie comes out. I hope they do films of all seven books, one each year!

I've read them to them! It's been a while though, I should do it again.

Good plan...been needing something to read to them.

We decided to go to the afternoon matinee too. I have a meeting with my church homeschool group at 1pm and it woulda been real tight getting there even if we'd seen the 10am showing. So we're going to the meeting then hitting the 2pm showing (hopefully) and if not, then the 2:30pm.

Then we have our church homeschoolers banquet tonight!! It's gonna be tight!!

Joshua does the kindergarten graduation thing! Matthew didn't do it, he didn't do kindergarten, so I'm kind of excited! I know, it's a silly thing, but I don't care! LOL!

Have you read them to your boys? Narnia makes a wonderful read-aloud.
