Great email winmag! Thanks for sharin!
Cool... did the utes know about the paintball? Maybe that, and not the labor, skeered 'em.
Here's a cool picture of our blooming rhododendron I took this afternoon as a nightlight.
Your rhodies are already blooming? Ours have buds, but they usually don't bloom until June. All my daffodils have finally died, along with the early tulips, but the late blooming tulips are just now opening. They're lovely!
This from someone who wouldn't show a friend's 9-year-old the Branagh Henry V because the battle was done too well.
Good note. Any special non-knifely needs? I'd like to put together a small care package.
Ohmigoodness! I *LOVE* that production - even have the soundtrack! It's fantastic!!!!
I got the jedis pool almost filled up last night...but just ran out of daylight. Also got the equipment needed to clean it, some of the chemicals and the test kit. (PS: My folks got them this pool for "finishing school for the year.")
Went out there to run some preliminary tests on it late last night...just to see where it stands chemical-wise and the thing just scared me to death to look at it! It really is just massive. It hold 3000 gallons of water. For some reason, the fact that I have a extremely large bag of water in my back yard is very unnerving!
This is what it looks like...this is the exact brand.
Large bag of water is right! Looks like something the boys are gonna LOVE! They're just the right ages for it; not too big, not too small! You need to get yourself a neat floatie from Wally World so you can enjoy it, too!
Heh...if'n our road trip brings us to Dogwood Ridge, I'll have Jr. bring his paintball equipment.
And fer the record, I ain't playin'. I'm too slow....and too big a target.
(mornin' y'all)
Looks like I only got one iris to bloom. So, I've decided that early next spring (post daffodils/tulips), I'm gonna go ahead and dig up the entire flower garden along that side next to thuh naybers. I'll move it out about 3-4 feet.
And plant a big d@mn hedge behind it...
In other news, gots beans comin' up...and the yucca is gonna bloom this year.
I don't know if I told you, can't believe I never did...but before we moved to Tulsa, Steve worked for a sod farm. The job was a every day job, no days off. But it came with a gigantic beautiful gorgeous house set in the bend of a river. It also came with an in-ground pool that no previous person who had that job cared or knew how to take care of...it was positively green...dark green.
Well, that scared me (being overly cautious of water, anyways) because it was so green that if someone (namely 18mo old Matthew) had fallen in, you couldn't have seen him! It had bullfrogs living in it!
So I harrassed the owners of the farm into letting me clean it up! I told them if they would pay for the chemicals, I would maintain it but then anyone could use it! They actually pumped it dry for me (there was a pair of shorts in the bottom, but thankfully no dead bodies.) Steve and I cleaned it out with muriatic acid and filled it back up with water.
I kept that thing spotless the entire time we were there. It was really gorgeous, sparking blue out there!
Steve worked every single day...no days off...which is why we ended up moving. It was one of those situations where they provide you a paycheck and a place to live, but it takes all your paycheck to pay for the electricity and such, you know?
I came to Tulsa on a Tues, got a job and a house on Wed, Steve quit on Wed and flew up here on Thursday, interviewed with the City of Tulsa on Friday, we both flew home on Sat. morning and we left that sod farm in Steve's truck and a moving van on Sunday afternoon.
:-)
I think current reading materials are always appreciated. Outdoors, hotrod, motorcycle mags (anything except girlie mags) to remind them of home. I think sending DVDs is now a waste of time, because they can get black market cheapies sooner than we can get the real thing on DVD. The PX system is pretty well established, I supposed.
I think you can also contribute towards phone cards from the USO site.
Have you made it up to Sunspot yet?
Not even against Bittygirl? She'll give ya' a runnin' start...
Played laser tag once. I finally just gave up and let 'em kill me.
