The Hobbit Hole XXI - ...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Ooooooh would love to move - have been checking out the real estate listings even! Tenative plans are to come back the 25th. Have two more tests to go and lotsa data to collect.

I opted to stay here the weekend because there is absolutely no point in spending an entire day on Saturday in an airplane only to spend another entire day on Monday to fly back. Costs Uncle Sam more $$ and would wear me out. This way I can do some work over the weekend, and be rested for another greuling week. And next week is gonna be a dooozie.

Heh, looks like Jr's pretty darn lucky. Very nice couple. And her dress meets with approval here ;-)

How is Mom's "Vicious pack-hunting heart-breaking teeny-bopper-girl" radar?

Can't tell you how many of my former students showed up to class in the days and weeks after the prom all down in the dumps 'cuz their dates dumped them before the vey expensive photo packages came in. You could just read 'em like a book. "So, Steve/Ryan/Zach/Tom. Let me guess. Prom date just got rid of you?" "Gee Mizz L., how did you know??" "Happens to the best of 'em kid. Happens to the best."

That said, she looks wholesome and nice enuf. Hope they have a lovely evening.

They've already been back and forth a couple of times. In fact, last time I told him to just let her go, skip the prom and meet someone new on choir tour.

He didn't listen. ;-)

We bought the horse trailer! Slightly different, a little bit more expensive version than the base model we were going to get. When we got there, they didn't ~have~ any of the models we had been planning on... they've switched to this new model. Dang! OK - but the slightly better one they had sitting there, had some custom work done to it already, I think, for a sale that fell through or something, and she was willing to give it to us for ~about~ the same price. We're still adding plexiglass windows, but it already had the wall mats and a neat organizer thingy in the door and the saddle racks in it and a cute littly foldy cart that mounts on the wall.

It's ours! Hopefully we can get the truck down there and the brake controller put in it soon, and then we may work out a time share deal with dad to borrow the truck on weekends, or every other week, or something till he can decide on a new truck.

ONE STEP closer!

I don't think they'll notice it :~D

It was funny the first time Bay was here in the yard... He'd see his reflection in the front windows and walk up and ~looooook~ Couldn't find the other horse!

Horses are funny people.

Am gonna run and watch a mooooovie. Read a book last nite instead of watching Bridget Jones. It was called "The Taking" by Dean Koontz. Very interesting and entertaining.

Cool trailer! Is the partition diagonal down the middle? I see the 'window' at the top of what looks like the partition. Is that so they can still see each other, or just for ventilation?

Prayer request...

Our 10-year-old car broke down today, while I was at home and Rose was driving it on the other side of town. I managed to get a rental (Enterprise... they came and picked me up) and arrange for a tow truck to take our heap to the repair place. Anyway, when the day was done, the diagnosis was a blown intake manifold and a blown head gasket; estimate to get it fixed and running, ~$2300. Needless to say, we don't have that much and the car isn't worth it anyway, but we need a running vehicle to get Rose and myself to work. So, it looks like we'll be visiting the used car dealers Monday morning to try and find something that runs.

Just a little turn of good luck for a change, that's all I ask.

Oh - I hope you can find a good car. If you can come and get ecurbh's car you can have it... It just needs a new battery! It's an 89 Grand AM.
