I have no problem with people coming over to work... so long as they do it within the rules.
What do you expect from him? He will tow the party line. He's no fool! Don't confuse him with a patriot though.
The only way Hannity will voice concern over illegal immigration, aside from terrorism, is if the administration does it first.
Excuse me, but if he's still for controlling the borders, regardless of whether it's terrorism or Mexicans, does it really matter? He's on the correct side of this issue. Accept it and be happy he's giving it the coverage he is.
He is not for ILLEGALS entering our country to work. He wants to close the borders permanently and fix the laws so that the process which legalizes a citizen moves faster.
I am not opposed to people becoming legal citizens to come here for a better life, but many of our loopholes and processes need a good cleaning.
Hannity is a parrot for the RNC, no surprises here.
The problem is not with guest workers, it is with criminals and terrorists and the people who come here bringing disease and we have no idea who or where they are. The current system makes it darned near impossible to come and work legally so they simply bypass the system. Legal guest workers could be prohibited from receiving government benefits at your and my expense and we could keep track of them.
The vast majority pay no income tax. They cost FAR more than they contribute. Free healthcare, free education, etc.
Nevertheless, illegal immigration is a major problem (understatement of the century). I'm not a fan of Sean but at least he didn't call the minutemen "Vigilantes."
what do you make of this article... sez that the illegals pay billions into the SS system - apparently with false SS #s:
http://www.libertypost.org/cgi-bin/readart.cgi?ArtNum=91166
apparently getting a fake SS number is one way illegals can get work here... i'm surprised that there is no cross-checking between government agencies..
I'm as conservative as they come and all for border security. Still, I cringe when I hear people verbally insulting groups of people and reacting towards others with general hostility. I guess I am a Christian first and a conservative second. There are plenty of us, so keep the vitriol down.
One toes the line. One uses a line to tow things.
The article you cite is very slanted.
Most illegals are hired as contract workers, and their pay has no deductions for FICA or Medicare.
Again, the overall economic impact of illegals is overwhelmingly negative. Visit any US hospital near the border, and ask the administrator to describe the impact that illegals have on the cost and quality of healthcare.
Hannity acts like he's some sort of Mafia boss or something, he'll be debating with some liberal about ANWAR drilling and his final point will be:
Hannity: Well sir, have you ever BEEN to Alaska?
Liberal: And..
Hannity: Yes or no.
Liberal: But..
Hannity: Yes or no.
Liberal: It's..
Hannity: Yes or no.
Liberal: Well no...
Hannity: Case closed!
He'd do well to crack a smile now and then, and to give his guests equal time. Lou Dobbs is the only one who's down to earth on illegal immigration, he's getting a little too friendly with the rats for my taste though.
That's ridiculous. Legal immigrants pay income tax just like anyone else.
Yes. Legal immigrants probably pay with equivalent compliance, but I thought we were discussing illegals.
No culture can absorb the numbers coming over, whether they are legal or illegal. Sean is just clueless about this issue.
Example: construction foremen in Arizona are earning $15.00 an hour. Those underneath them are likely illegals. Think about what they are making. Can you support a family on $15 a year? Do you have any idea what kind of exploitation is happening to the illegals? They have depressed wages and too many too fast are ruining both cultures. Then they take up so many tax dollars in social services, we are going broke.
By the way, Tucson has the highest theft rate in the nation. Those who can't find decent wages resort to theft to survive.
Our immigration policies have to be reasonable. They are already actually. Green cards are available. Visas allow Mexican citizens to visit and shop in the U S.
