Interesting FR thread on Friday. A longtime member asked what is the obsession with cats on FR. I have no idea.

Kitty Humor is a weekly thread (usually on Monday) on FR in the “General Interest” section.
Among all the serious news, a little humor, brought to us by our feline friends is a nice break.
Helps us get the week to a nice start.
If you want on/off the kitty humor list (170 members) or you have a picture/animation you want featured, please send me freep-mail.

I've got some cute kitty pics if someone could help me get them posted.

A 3x5 book called "bad cat" had 244 pictures and captions that kept us laughing.

Kitty Litter Cake

Ingredients

1 (18.25 ounce) package German chocolate cake mix
1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
2 (3.5 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
1 (12 ounce) package vanilla sandwich cookies
3 drops green food coloring
1 (12 ounce) package tootsie rolls
Directions

1 Prepare cake mixes and bake according to package directions (any size pan).

2 Prepare pudding according to package directions and chill until ready to assemble.

3 Crumble sandwich cookies in small batches in a food processor, scraping often. Set aside all but 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup add a few drops of green food coloring and mix.

4 When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with 1/2 of the remaining cookie crumbs, and the chilled pudding. You probably won't need all of the pudding, you want the cake to be just moist, not soggy.

5 Line kitty litter box with the kitty litter liner. Put cake mixture into box.

6 Put half of the unwrapped tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until softened. Shape the ends so that they are no longer blunt, and curve the tootsie rolls slightly. Bury tootsie rolls randomly in the cake and sprinkle with half of the remaining cookie crumbs. Sprinkle a small amount of the green colored cookie crumbs lightly over the top.

7 Heat 3 or 4 of the tootsie rolls in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle lightly with some of the green cookie crumbs. Heat the remaining tootsie rolls until pliable and shape as before. Spread all but one randomly over top of cake mixture. Sprinkle with any remaining cookie crumbs. Hang the remaining tootsie roll over side of litter box and sprinkle with a few green cookie crumbs. Serve with the pooper scooper for a gross dessert.

Many years ago I served the kitty litter cake at a Halloween party and, while there were some who didn't dare touch it, the concoction was very popular and a huge topic of conversation and jokes.

Hi, Sandy:

Great photo of Thomas.

Cats are just generally All Around Cool.
They won't chase a ball
That's been thrown in the pool.

Though they've been known to leap and play
On the green felt table for Snooker and pool.
Knocking ceramic balls around
To their joyful delight
Like a light hearted fool.

Only to follow the balls into their pocket
Then nap purringly like a nut in a socket.
When not kneading their claws
In the felt. What a sight!

Jack Deth~ 04/18/05.

That's good! Phoebe is our "pool table" cat. She likes to sleep on top of it, which is why we got a heavy-duty cover.

~Cats are lucky!~

The Legend of the Good-Luck Cat

In many oriental places, small statues of cats with one paw raised are frequently seen. You may have wondered what these things mean. They are there for good luck, such as with money or happiness.

There is a story behind their 'good luck', and a reason why the one of the cats' paws is raised. It goes like this:

A man was walking in a small villiage in Asia. As he went down a street, he noticed on the front porch of a house nearby, a cat facing him with one paw raised, as if waving to him. He was curious as to why the cat was waving at him, and he walked towards the cat to investigate. Not two seconds later did lightning hit the spot where he would have been standing had he not seen the cat.

Since that day, cats with one paw raised have been recognized as signs of good luck!

I got this off Animal Planet, so if it's wrong, don't blame me! ^-^

Nice recipe.. but I just use Grape Nuts cereal for the 'litter' and unwrapped Almond Roca. Drizzle chocolate sauce on the litter box for effect...

I won $25 bucks at a Halloween food contest with this.. Almost covered what it cost to make...
