And I would have to disagree with you, about hating 'Arsenic and Old Lace'...thats just one great movie, that I enjoy watching every time it comes on TV...tho I do think, Cary Grant once said, of all the movies he made, 'Arsenic', was his least favorite...
Well, I guess that is why there are so many movies...we all have our own tastes in what we like to watch...
For myself, I am bored by most musicals, and comedies...the comedies(with some exceptions), are just not funny at all to me...and musicals, simply put me to sleep...
When my dad died, he had a huge library of movies...I gave every single musical and most of the comedies to my aunt..
There really is a wealth of movies out there...
I also loved 'Gettysburg'...and the music was also beautiful..
I'm morally opposed to sequels, unless the producers back a dumptruck of money up to my house, so my next movie will be a Bettie Page biopic.
The only problem is that I'll have to cut my hair into bangs again.
I like Bettie. Can I be your stunt double for the short shots?
Please! I'll need doubles for everything except legs. :)
Dances With Wolves.
X-Men
Forgot the BARF alert... ( :
Good and creepy choices.
I really liked "Ninth Gate." You never know what Polanski is thinking.
And Gary Oldham in "Dracula" is magnificent. But he was even better as Beethoven in "Immortal Beloved," one of the best movies ever made.
"Yentl" was a very good movie. The scene where Mandy Patinkin finds out she's a woman is riveting.

Those are definitely my 3 favorite movies. The transitions Dracula goes through from the strange guy in the castle to the young guy in London to the tall bat guy. I didn't like the way he quoted Jesus with the "It is finished" at the end but I did love the redemption at the end. Ninth gate always keeps you guessing. Obviously he is living the ritual and Boris's attempt at performing it was way off. But what kind of being is the girl? She's definitely not human, nor are the two twin bookshop keepers.
Devils advocate is an excellent examination of sin and temptation. Given that much temptation imagine how quickly we'd fall.
I've never seen Immortal Beloved.
No mention of the Police Academy movies?
Tragic
Gotta add a couple: It Happened One Night; The Awful Truth; The Best Years of Our Lives.
PS: I too loved "Brassed Off" and the soundtrack is fabulous! But I'm a sucker for brass music... my favorite holiday album is "Christmas with the Canadian Brass."
You'd think I would have thought of that one.
Now name a car model that begins with the letter U.
UNNGGH
Lots of great movies missing, e.g., The Apartment; It Happened One Night; Big Night; Adam's Rib; Cinema Paradiso.
Glad you enjoy it...that is the LAST movie I enjoy watching:-)
