This forum, over the past few weeks.months has gotten frankly... UGLY! This is a tremendously sad day for many. It is unimaginably sad for the Schindlers, for the many wonderful people who have been outside the hospice for the past two weeks, and it has been very sad for many of us who feel they finally have a place that they are able to voice their opinions and views, on Free Republic.
Terri Schiavo passed away today and in my heart and the hearts of most here, she is now with the Lord. Yet, there are those who feel it necessary to continue on this day, of all days, to blast our Government, the President, the Governor, Michael Schiavo, Felos, Greer, DU, other Freepers and anyone else they can think of... May I suggest that for today, we simply grieve together... We share our hopes and prayers for Terri's family. We pray that Terri has found peace and if need be, we pick up our in-fighting and our showings of the uglier side of Free Republic tomorrow.
I unfortunately feel this thread will not get as much attention as the others but I hope we can, just for today, leave our differences at the door...
Dave
:-) As you can probably read in many of my posts as of late, I probably bash as bad as the next guy... I just think that it would be a nice to give it a day off... We certainly have plenty of time to pick it up again tomorrow. But for now, and I'm speaking only for me here, I was so thankful when I found you guys... I found a group that, in general shared the same values, views and opinions as I do (The large majority of the time, anyway).
This issue has really torn us apart in many ways, but I think we'll definitely get through it. In many ways I can look at FR as a family (dysfunctional as it may be, however... :) And I think, as a family we suffered a loss when Terri died... I just thought that we can take ONE DAY to kind of "be with our family" to mourn her loss with beating the snot out of each other and all the rest that bear the blame. That was the meaning of the thread.... not ignore what happened, cry and get over it, which I think some who've posted to me feel that I meant.
Trust me, I'll probably go back to pis*ing some people off tomorrow, but today I'd rather think and pray for Terri and her mom and dad. Those who say they'll do that too, but will not stop lashing out even for a day because those who deserve blame need to "be damned to hell" and on and on and on can't fully direct their heart toward Terri and her parents. It's not possible to be whole-hearted in one thing whle part of you is elsewhere.... Just my thoughts... :)
phew..that was a close call.
Anyone see a tap dancing duck or goose??
In or out of a mine field ....
How funny!!! out, and not a'la orange
I'm with ya!
Are you of the female persuasion ???? I like your profile and thought you might be based on your blond and shoes in the kitchen comments.
I am of the female pursuasion, and often have blond moments. I provide my fiance with hours of free entertainment.
And you're on FR? I hope you like the color purple.
I agree. There's a lot of hate and bad attitudes on this site lately. Glad to see others want to put a stop to it.
Now, that's really cute!
I reserve the right to bash people over historical or economic matters though.
You want a bash-free zone, and no insults and "Rodney King-ism", ? It is TOO da#n late for that!!! As the great noted orator Jeannane Garafalo said recently" the time to build a bridge is over. They blew up the bridge". YES-- THEY(the demoncrats, and the Euthansia crowd, et al) Blew up that bridge!!1 you don't want us to hold those who killed this beautiful woman accountable, 'eh. THEN,GO JOIN THE PEACE CORPS, or SOMETHING!!!
##ck "getting along". That is for Pu##ies. IT IS TIME TO TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps you should go back and read it again? I believe you might have possibly, in your passion, overlooked a few points.
The thread was NOT meant for you. BUT it was meant for those who "just want to get along, and offend nobody".
It is WAY too late, to try the Rodney King approach. Time to try the "storm the castle" approach, is what it loks like to me!!
Im just not in a very "complaint" mood right now, and maybe, I never will be again. If I ever get the chance to make my voice heard, to the masses, I WILL PULL NO DA#N PUNCHES!!!!
hmmm, obviously you overlooked quite a bit... Nowhere in my initial post did i say anything about not holding the people who killed this woman accountable... nowhere at all.. the point of this thread was to take this day, nad ONLY this day if you'd like and stop the bashing of everyone you'd like to bash and mourn the loss of Terri and keep her parents in your heart and mind... and ONLY her parents and of course Terri, rather than keeping and harboring hatred for the people you wish to unload on... that's all...
I did not say to let them go nor did i say NOT to hold them accountable. I only felt that this forum could use this day for Terri, that was my reason for posting it...
Ofcourse, I could always just stick it up my a*s which is what I'm sure you are thinking as that is fine too... :) Trust me there are probably at least 15-20 other threads that are available to you... :-)
Even in wars there are times when you have a truce so that you can bury your dead and mourn.
And don't address something to me if you don't want me to respond.
Aren't you proud of me? I didn't bash him at all!
A little diplomacy will do us all a some good.
