There is nothing left of what was Terri but a husk. Terminal to me is not the existence or not of physiological processes but a spirit and soul united with a body which creates a personality and a life. Terri's spirit, like most in such states, departed after the lack of oxygen ruined her brain beyond hope.
I mean look at the arguments here: a vast conspiracy to "murder" TErri; a husband who tried to murder her (although no authority thinks so); medical conspiracy; judicial conspiracy, religious (well Scientologist anyway) conspiracy; calls to defy the Courts and take the law into the hands of the Executive and worse flat out lies about her husband and her condition. It is beyond ridiculous and makes FR look like a gathering of loons and has wasted tremendous resources which could have been put to good use. Now the cranks are turning on the Bushes for not being lunatic enough.
I don't understand how spiritual people can cling to this illusion of materialism nor do I understand how conservative people can sacrifice every principle of conservatism in this case. Particularly when the BEST result is a complete horror since Terri could have never been brought back.
Well, as a Floridian, I'm not playin'. Sheesh.

Have you ever been in a "home" where the Terri's of the world live? NOT hospice, as those were meant for the terminally ill, but the "homes"...the institutions where people live who are in severe need of help? These people are humans like you and I. They have different levels of awareness, different levels of abilities...their lives are JUST as important as yours or mine.
The itty bitty babies in the NICU units....those little ones are on MORE life support than Terri was.
I realize this is an emotional subject...REALLY emotional, but doggone it, I, Brad's Gramma, CHOOSE LIFE if at all possible.
My one disclaimer? Those on death row... :)
I feel a terrible precedent will be set if this woman is killed. How many babies have been aborted due to ONE court case? ONE!
The Florida House is responsible for impeachment of state officers.

Although I knew that epople with living wills could order withholding food and water, I did not know this could be done without written directive from the patient.
If nothing else happens from this case, we need to know how many people have been killed this way without their written directive. How many because the nursing homes suggested it since the patient was a money-loser? How many because relatives colluded to do so in order to get a larger inheritance?
Somewhere these statistics exist. If they don't, then nursing homes and hospices should be required to say at whose directive a patient's nutrition and fluids are being withheld.
This seems to me to be a flaw in many state laws, and should be addressed by individual legislatures. In addition, Congress should investigate if any of this is tied to Medicare or Medicaid fraud.
I agree...but HOW? How do we find out? There seems to be such a "business of death" that those killing people sure aren't going to step up to the plate.

I am pleased that my opinion almost mirrors yours.
Whenever the likes of the Larry Klaymans, Bo Greitzs, Jesse Jacksons, Alan Keyes, et. al., show up, that's a sure sign there's money to be made. I'm surprised Gloria Allred hasn't figured out how to get a piece of the action yet.
