We have moved beyond the debate about the "right" to die. It's much worse then that.
The situation right now is this: unelected judges vs elected officials. Who is supreme?
Whether you agree or disagree that the person should have the "right" to die is not the matter anymore. The judge, UNELECTED, ordered the starvation of Terri is far more much worse and the precedent for the future of US will be HUGE. Situation like this make me scare to death when I'll be in court knowing that the judges have the power of life and death over me.
Yes.
It's not a joke, though some FReepers would gladly convince others it is.
Those FReepers trying to do the convincing would be the first to volunteer to help 'maintain things,' for the 'good of the country.'
A friend and neighbor may well be an enemy.
This is such a sad day. There's not a judge in the country that would sentence a child killer to death by starvation. It's awful.
Amen!

"A living will will deny the courts a decision on your fate!
If the courts ignore a subpoena, ignore a law passed by Congress and signed by the President himself, what is going to make them honor a living will drawn up by a mere citizen?"
What will be 'living' about it really? How will the words be interpreted? Will its presence be tied to Medicare/caid or Social Security benefits or other health care benefits? What terms and language must be present to protect life?
Of course, absent any 'living will,' perhaps we'll just be sent to the camps. I am actually not being that facetious. This is going to be a dark and terrible time, especially given that so many people appear only too glad to blithely go along.
"I doubt Judge Greer will be reelected."
I just read a story about him on foxnews.com. He said he won't be running again (wimp!). The story also said he was a (supposedly) conservative christian, but has been asked by his Baptist church not to attend any more (at least someone has principles!). It also said he was a longtime Republican (can we ask him to leave the party too?) He and his family are currently protected by armed guards because of death threats.
Don't be accused of "intellectual flatulence" now!
Kinky, is that you?
Have a look into whether people over 65 in the UK get dialysis coutesy of the National Health.
He also refused to consider Terri's last words...AAAA...WAAA on timeliness grounds.
He should be impeached, and a probe initiated into his conflicts of interest.

You are in control, Terri's mistake was not to have one!
I'll make sure no one cuts off my water. The effects of dehydration are horrible.
There are several parallel issues in the Terri Schiavo matter. If you go on the premise there is only one, you will be confused beyond redemption.
Christians, Jews, Hindus, Muslims and others of religions that value life see the issue of Terri Schiavo being murdered. She clearly did not ask for this death by torture.
Deatheaters see this as a chance to further their agenda of death to the weak and control over the rest of the general population.
Elements of the legal system, judges in particular, see this as a challenge to the current superiority of the legal leg of the countrys governmental tripod, the Executive, the Legistative and the Legal. Notice, no mention of Justice.
Our Declaration of Independence and Constitution guaranty freedom to enjoy LIFE, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
Judges have a vested interest in being infallible. One can question the Judges procedures, he can be found to make procedural errors, but one cannot question his judgment. The President and Congress, as well as the Governor, have questioned his judgment. That is not allowed and will not be allowed by the court system. It really isnt relevant that an innocent lady will be tortured to death. You must understand, if we are allowed to question the Judges judgment, all heck will break loose. The Judge must be infallible.
Christians are admonished to follow the law, to render unto Caeser that which is Caesers and unto God that which is Gods. We follow the law.
Unless the Executive finds its spine, a deatheater Circuit Judge can sentence anyone to death, using a clever right to die wording and they are toast. A Circuit Judge is more powerful than the President, Congress or the Governor. AS LONG AS THEY ALLOW IT! Not one second longer.
Understand also, who you associate with can kill you. If you are a Christian, hang with Christians, marry a Christian, ditto Jews, Hindus, etc. Marry a deatheater and you are toast, when they tire of you. They will have you killed for their own happiness.
Warning, do no subject yourself to the court. If you do, they can isolate you and eliminate you at little or no cost to themselves. Fluid Tactics are the only choice.
You know, with the precedent now set for court ordered murder (which is what this is), I can envision a scenario in the not too distant future whereby this type of thing is what will "solve" the coming Medicare/Social Security crisis. After all, abortion helped create the crisis, so why should anyone be shocked if euthanasia is ultimately viewed as the solution.
Yes, it is indeed much, much worse than any right to die argument.
Not true. Under the 1999 Florida law signed by Jeb Bush--created by the cabal that owns the hospice in which Terri is being murdered, a doctor can disregard even the written instructions of a patient who requests care. This business about having written instructions is just Prolefeed--to disguise the fact that involuntary euthanasia is already legal in Florida. Jeb Bush was right: everything that is being done to Terri is according to law. A law he signed in 1999.
That was Humpty-Dumpty.
Huzzah for The Prisoner!
I think we should use Shakespeare's suggestion!
your mother is absolutely correct, if she is in Florida. All the current talk on the MSM about having a document is Prolefeed. The law ALREADY is that a doctor is free to disregard instructions from the patient to provide care. He is NOT free to disregard instructions to withhold care. And practically anybody, not just a spouse, can declare that the patient at some point in the past declared a desire for food and water to be withheld. All this talk about the sanctity of marriage is more Prolefeed. And who signed this law in 1999? Jeb Bush.
So true. Doesn't this just exhibit to the commies how easily we were lulled to sleep and how simple it is to take our country out from under us?
I believe people should be able to refuse care, and I personally don't like the idea of tube feedings...
Terri's case is beyond that....
taking away what has been ordinary for her...tube feedings....that she has had for 15 yrs and on top of that, refusing to even try to feed her by spoon.....
folks....this is murder......
here is where the National Socialist Democratic Workers Party is taking us. http://www.regent.edu/admin/ctl/uselesseaters/
