Judge George Greer, the Supreme Law in the State of Florida, has removed all of the abilities of Governor Jeb Bush to save Terri Schiavo. I don't know that anyone could save her at this point; a week of dehydration may have done irreversible damage. Still, we must try.
The Fourteenth Article of Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, states,
Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.Congress is so lethargic and dominated by pro-death Democrats that it surely will not exercise its power in a reasonable time, and its last attempt ended in failure. Contrary to the orders of Judge Greer, Terri Schiavo is not (medically) a xerophyte who can wait until next year for some water. She desperately needs water today.Section 5. The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Florida is bound by the Fourteenth Amendment, and the federal government required the state to accept this article to regain its status as a state after the American Civil War. The State's obvious flouting of its obilgations under the Fourteenth Amendment should rescind the provisions of the Compromise of 1877 that lifted the federal military occupation of Florida during the Reconstruction after the Civil War.
The Congress should have exercised its delegated (Article I, Section 8) power "To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions." Moreover, "The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States" (Article II, Section 2). The President also swore or affirmed that he would "to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" (Article II, Section 1).
These powers should allow President Bush to declare a judicial insurrection in Florida, and thereby to call forth both the Florida National Guard and any regular troops in the vicinity to suppress this insurrection.
Suppressing this insurrection must involve--at minimum--rescuing Terri Schiavo and airlifting her to a military hospital in another state. The troops also must hunt down Judge George Greer, Attorney George Felos, and adulterer Michael Schiavo, the triumvirate who started this incurrection.
Alternatively, the President could use the José Padilla precedent to declare Terri Schiavo an enemy combatant. While this action would remove the jurisdiction of the Courts over Terri Schiavo and remove her abusive husband from the equation, it might set the Padilla problems on even more shaky grounds, and I do not advise it.
Starving the mentally disabled to death is, unfortunately, the way things are done in the US. And for some time, ala the Cruzan case. Florida state law allows for this to be done. The only reason that Terri's case has come to our attention is that her adulterous husband has pressed forward to off her, in spite of the wishes of his in laws to keep her alive and care for her. Perhaps another reason is that many of us were ignorant of the fact that starving the mentally disabled is standard procedure in the US.
It is scary when some wearing the uniform don't know about that.
If they are acting as your guardians, or trying to, and screw up, you get the dirty end of the stick. Just as if you were competent and went into court yourself. If you pick a bad lawyer or mouth off wrong on the stand you can lose everything, including your life.
The government has tremendous authority to stop this, and I'm having trouble thinking that mass insurrection is necessary to protect this lady's inalianable rights.
The Government doesn't have the authority to just Bogart the Judicial system, and that's a good thing, otherwise, it would be powerful enough to do whatever it wanted to anyone, any time.
If that is what is required, watch out. People WILL do it and are beginning to already.
Lots of people have lots of mouth, but very few are ready to actually be shot down in the streets for some woman they never actually knew who is already dead when the answer is just to change the State laws of Flori-duh.
And if they are ready, the vast majority of Americans think she should die, and all but a handful of American Troops will follow lawful orders if necessary and put down any 'insurection' with utmost brutality.

I wonder how they'll react when Hillary! decides its ok to violate the constitution in order to uphold what she and her supporters believe to be a "higher law" or moral calling.

I don't think I proposed "telling" you anything, I simply stated a hope that as time passes people will be realistic enough to decide to support the best available electable candidate.
I 'wasted' my vote for Perot in '92, because I was angry with Bush '41. My vote along with others like me got us Clinton. I learned from that experience that while I may not agree with everything about a candidate I get more of what I want by helping elect the lesser of the evils among the Dems and Reps. I wish it were more than a vote for the lesser of the evils, but that's what it is. Having been down the "Perot" road, I certainly can't criticize others for doing the same, but I can hope they can learn from my mistake. That's all I said.
Never again will I be swayed by the lessor of two evils argument.
Any government D or R that arrests children for attempting to give a dying woman a drink of water is a government so evil it defies description.

That is where impeachment comes in. Clinton dared us to impeach him when he did very very sleazy 'bogarts'. Our nation survived. I call it 'expediency'. Do you think George Washington or Old Hickory or Thomas Jefferson would have stood by idly? I don't.
