During the Terri Schiavo case:
Which radio talk show hosts have been reasonable?
Which radio talk show hosts have been unreasonable?
Which radio talk show hosts have been downright irresponsible (accusing Michael of trying to kill Terri, advocating breaking the law, advocating violence, etc?
Jay Severin was no better although thankfully he didn't play that sad tape Howie played (over and over and over again).
Michael Savage has been relentless and enjoyable.
Thanks.... You sure you have that right about Art Bell and George Noury being pro-Terri?
Michael Savage has been great all this week ... I have not liked him before and had not listened much before
Michael Schiavo, there's just something about this guy that doesn't pass the smell test.
If this case were a TV movie, Columbo would be showing up everywhere Michael Schiavo goes.
Bravo!!!!
Please take this in the best possible way, because I want to make sure it gets said in public: You're a big man, Tonk. I knew you were, even when you and I were fighting over this Limbaugh thing.
THIS means a LOT to me!
Thank You!
PS Want back on my ping list? Please?
On the local level, Eileen Byrne and Teri O'Brien of WLS 890 in Chicago, Vicki McKenna of WIBA 1310 in Madison, Wisconsin, and Charlie Sykes and Jeff Wagner of WTMJ 620 in Milwaukee--All have been outstanding. They have not made any wild accusations, but they have made it clear that this is atrociously wrong (Charlie even opened the phones and challenged pro-deathers to tell why it wasn't equivalent to stabbing her to death) and have stood behind the Shindlers 100%.
Also, on TV, Dennis Miller has been good, and Abrams on MSNBC and Juan Williams on Special Report have been atrocious, especially Juan who thinks Terri is brain dead and treats everyone who tries to correct him on it like they're saying she's Albert Einstein.
No for now, but that's only because my ping volume is so high. If something big comes up you need pings on, please feel free to single me out.
I don't understand his obsession with the shades being drawn. The importance of Light in our lives, and its deep symbolism, cannot be underestimated, and you don't have to be religious to appreciate that. Does anyone who loves another ever wish Darkness on them?
It also bothers me that she has lost several teeth(!) because he has demanded she can't even have such basic care as brushing. So did he see her as nothing but an empty shell, something to dismiss, something to allow to rot? I don't think the word "dignity" ever crossed his mind, and especially since he's been with another woman the last few years.
Saw Tammy on C-SPAN speaking to a college crowd, and if every feminist was like her this country would be in a lot better shape.
Yeah, and the same liberal folks who say we're demonizing him (i.e., bringing up legitimate concerns about his guardianship) would be gleefully implying that he was killing her out of homophobia, and saying "She didn't have bulimia, she told him she was leaving him for a woman and he snapped."
You are kidding aren't you?
He really is the dean of talk radio, and a true gentleman.
Oh, BTW, though I'm not ready to be back on the ping list, I'm hoping in a few weeks I'll have something to contribute to the Canteen daily. Will get back to you then.
Sounds like he's hoping to pick up the DU demographic.
I'm not saying we're not in deep doo-doo, but don't let those polls throw you. Those polls are based on calling people who have been told a bunch of lies, and asking them a leading question that's a lie in and of itself. Most people don't know Schiavo has a girlfriend with two of his kids, most think that he's been trying to pull the tube for 15 years (and don't know he suddenly "remembered" her wishes in 1997), most don't know how much evidence there is that she's not PVS, most don't know about Schiavo's abusive medical decisions, or Greer's exclusion of relevant evidence...I could go on, but you get the idea. It's just like the Swift Boat stuff, a lot of people believed things about the Swiftees that were ludicrous, but if they only knew half (or less!) of the facts from watching the evening news ofr reading the local paper, they were making a reasobnable conclusion based on the crap they'd been fed.
And he should have done...what?
